How does Chevron Synthetic compare with Mobil 1?

How does Chevron Synthetic compare with Mobil 1? Chevron Supreme conventional may well be the best conventional motor oil. Judging from VOAs and UOAs that have been posted here, it is certainly one of the very best conventional motor oils. Getting past the fact that Chevron Synthetic may be a Group III, is Chevron Synthetic the equal or near equal to Mobil 1?

I think most oils up to 3-5k all show similar wear under normal driving condtions. In a turbo or high HP car, I'd go with a Amsoil/M1 oil. It just depends. Chevron is an excellent buy. Thats my take on it.

I will be posting a UAO on the Chevron Supreme Synthetic 10w-30 sometime in early summer.

Most likely to be run 5000 miles in my wifes 99 Subaru Legacy. The Soob should have over 100,000 on it by then.

I have used Mobil 1 5w-30 and Texaco Synthetic 5w-30
in my '98 4 cyl Toyota. The Texaco seems to stay cleaner and is quieter so far.
