How do you mark your company (or personal) name on your yard equipment?
Marker pens can easily be washed off with WD40. You can stamp metal with letters but plastic which covers most things will crack.
The best way I've seen it done with using a hot iron and etching your name of plastic covers, then oozing whiteoff in the burned crater formed by the letters.
My handwriting sucks though.

What's your personal favorite way to do it?

Pee on it?

My Dad owned a dig your own nursery. He had expensive heavy duty shovels to lend. He painted the handles with blue and yellow stripes. He was color-blind so not sure how he saw the stripes.

I tend to only loan out tools to people that will bring them back, or I come along with the tool if its something I care about. So no marking required.
Theft seems to be a non-issue here, most people don't lock anything (cars, house, shop)unless they are gone for a while(knock on wood).

I don't mark my equipment, but when I find bikes in the trash, I fix them, then give them to neighborhood kids who don't have a pot to p$%% in. I always engrave their name on the bottom of the crank hub so they can reclaim their property after they are stolen...almost inevitable. Engravers can be found cheaply on EBay. If you're handwriting is poor, join the club...no one but a professional with a custom machine, like is used on jewelry, engraves neatly

Why would I want to "mark" my equipment? I have the serial numbers of the big stuff recorded for insurance purposes, but beyond that I've never been fearful of things getting stolen, and when someone does borrow something I've never had an issue with them returning it.
