Anybody have any details regarding Honda's HT0-06 standard for engine oil? I just found it mentioned in a new ExxonMobil press release:

Mobil 1 Selected as Factory and Service Fill Motor Oil for Newly Launched 2007 Acura RDX Luxury SUV

FAIRFAX, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 30, 2006--ExxonMobil today announced that Mobil 1 has been selected as the factory and service fill motor oil for the new 2007 Acura RDX luxury SUV.

Acura selected Mobil 1, the world's best selling synthetic motor oil, to meet the unique lubrication demands of the first-ever Acura turbocharged and intercooled engine. Due to its high-temperature oxidation stability and ability to prevent deposits from building on critical turbocharger and engine components, Mobil 1 will provide maximum protection for the high-performance RDX.

Recently, Honda Motor Co., Ltd., parent company of Acura Automobiles, developed a tough new standard for motor oil used in their vehicle engines. Known as HT0-06 , the new standard ensures that the motor oil in every new RDX engine provides maximum protection. Mobil 1 outperformed its competitors and received the highest rating of all oils tested.

Based on its exceptional testing results, Acura recommends that RDX owners always use Mobil 1 5W-30, or an equivalent oil that meets the Acura HT0-06 standard. Not all synthetic oils meet the new Acura standard, and using the wrong oil in a high-performance turbocharged engine can lead to accumulated deposits in the engine, which reduces performance and causes engine wear.

"We are pleased that Acura has recognized Mobil 1 as the oil of choice to provide excellent wear protection, even under the most severe driving conditions," said Brad Onofrio, automotive lubricants marketing manager - Americas, ExxonMobil Lubricants & Specialties. "The new Acura RDX requires high performing synthetic oil designed to meet the demands of its high performance turbocharged engine, that's why Mobil 1 5W-30 engine oil was chosen,"

Mobil 1 is recommended for high-performance turbocharged engines found in passenger cars, SUVs, light vans and trucks around the world.

Mobil 1 5W-30 provides a variety of performance benefits for the Acura RDX and its 2.3L turbocharged engine, including better fuel economy and lower emissions, excellent oil flow characteristics, and outstanding engine wear protection. Mobil 1 is uniquely designed to provide unsurpassed levels of performance, cleaning power and engine protection.

Thanks! For some reason the EOM article says HT(zero)-06 instead of HT(letter O)-06 as shown in the Acura service article.

That must be why I didn't find any info when I did a forum search.

LTVibe: I noticed that as well...confusing for sure. I did some Google searching for more info on this spec, but only stumbled upon a couple of Honda/Acura forums with no additional information.

IF you look at Amsoils test of various oils it is no wounder Mobil-1EP in the USA and Mobil-1 in just about every other country was chosen! Sure Amsoil out performed at but look at the price you pay for the slight increase in performance.Their is no way I would want any G-III like PP 5W30 or Syntec 5W30 or any of the other G-III 5W30's in a HP turbo charged gasoline engine!Mobil-1EP, Amsoil S3K, Redline,Fuchs etc...... are all going to keep wear at a minimum and keep deposits to a minimum as well!!

...but I thought M1 was all just marketing hype?

Brian, the ACEA A3 standard requires an oil to have at least a HT/HS of 3.5. All 30wt oils these days are formulated on the low end for better fuel efficiency.

Well, except GC and Maxlife synth...

I find it funny how M1's most ubiquitous oil happens to meet this standard.

I guess this means I should not worry and use my M1 5w30 in my Saab and just add some VSOT or SLOB....
