What do you guy's think of the Honda V6 Vtec in the Accord? It tends to show much higher wear metals than the Toyota V6's. I know the 4cylinder in the RSX is an oil burner by design, but how is the V6?

My dad LOVES his '04 Accord V-6. He says that it has so much power he's afraid to floor it for very long (although he did turn into a senior citizen type driver after driving an older Cadillac for awhile, I think that car ruined him

). We've done oil changes at 5k, 15k, and 20k miles, and there are between 20k and 25k miles on it right now. It hasn't burned any oil at all.

We're going to do a UOA at the 25 or 30 thousand mile change to see how its doing.

Cu is what I was referring too and when comparing Honda UOA to Toyota, the wear metals do seem higher but that is expected as they are different engines obviously. Sounds like the V6 is NOT an oil burner like the 4 cyl in the RSX.

Yes they do tend to spit out a lot of Cu but apparently that doesn't appear to be an issue otherwise. My Honda V6's (Acura 3.2TL) Cu levels appear to have steadily gone down and aren't bad now (I'm at nearly 60K when I'll do an oil change and another UOA). My engine doesn't burn any oil either.

This UOA is the last one I posted on this car.

Obviously I'm partial but I like Honda V6s.
