Who wants to chat about 2025 Ford V6 3.5L "Ecoboost"?

What things? 2025 model specifically.
No one has enough miles on a 25 to tell you about long-term durability. The core design of this motor has been unchanged for a few years now and its track record has been far from spotless.

It’s mostly the timing set on these, right? I’m not aware of any glaring issues with the 3.5 or 2.7 themselves aside from timing components?

It’s hard to single out the ecoboosts if indeed the timing set is their weakness, as thats become so common on the return to chain drives. A decade ago BITOG was flaming timing belts, but the move to chains has kinda leveled the field.

My 2.7 had known weak o rings on turbo coolant lines. They would weep coolant whenever I towed but generally didn’t lose much on the DD. Besides that, and the beginning of chain noise (and the timely arrival of metal glitter in the oil filter), my 2.7 was a delight to own.

As @CKN mentioned, the 10r80 is another story. But some dealers have gotten adept - I recently learned the local Lincoln dealer keeps stacks of 10r80 CDE drum kits. They have one tech who just does 5 of these a week, one after the other. I’ve heard they charge just under $4k for the job. It’s all he does.

Timing chain issue for 3.5 and 3.7 fords is like the leaky headgasket for subaru.
Originally they used weak bicycle chain almost.
They switched to a MUCH heavier chain. That resolved the issue.
