Who wants to chat about 2025 Ford V6 3.5L "Ecoboost"?

Note that in Pablo's application (Transit), the engine will be longitudinally mounted (like a F150) and also detuned from typical F150 ratings.
F150 ratings: 400 HP / 500 fl-lb torque
Transit ratings: 310 HP / 400 ft-lb torque
The detuning is necessary because the Transit (and pretty much most vans) don't have the same ability to reject heat from the cooling system(s) due to the tighter engine bays. The detuned engine will have less stress on it than a typical F150 application, all other things being equal. Assuming they use the same/similar transmissions, it, too, will see less stress from the lower power level relative to the truck application.

The 3.5L EB has been around in many platforms over the years. And time changes things (sometimes for the better; sometimes not). The newest generation will have older issues resolved, but perhaps new problems yet discovered.

I look forward to a detailed first-report and subsequent detailed updates as the Transit matures in his fleet!

Ford offers a 10 year/175K extended warranty for their vehicles. Just google and you will find numerous sellers of them. Let's just say that I'd be running to buy one, even at the $6-7k it costs.

You can get an 8 yr./125k Ford warranty for $1820.. some YT channels offer it for $1500

My dad has a 2017 F150 with the 2.7 Ecoboost. Running an annual OCI with Amsoil SS. I’ll post a UOA and tag you Pablo if you would like. It will happen late this summer.

No direct knowledge (as in I never owned one) but I have a friend with a an early 2015 3.5L Ecoboost. He has about 300k miles on it, oil changed on the minder at Ford dealers only, replaced both turbos recently but generally trouble free. He drove it all over the country, in all kinds of conditions, working construction. He didn't tow or haul much, but that truck had at least the equivalent time idling as it did driving. Every jobsite, it spent the entire day idling.

Based on that experience, I think its a pretty tough engine!

My BIL bought the very first year of the 3.5EB, he put 200k on it with zero issues but he is a 3K jiffy lube oil change guy.

I can get one for 50 bucks, 500 bucks or 5000 bucks.
The underwriting and terms is what actually matters.
Ever ask the extended car warranty people for the underwriting and the terms?

That’s nuts.
On the surface that seems pricey, but given the frequency and severity of historical issues with these things, it's actually a great deal. If you look at their pricing it does ramp up significantly after year 8, which generally aligns with when things tend to go bust.

What things? 2025 model specifically.

Have 80k miles on my 2016 3.5TT eco. This is the last year of the first generation. One long timing chain. I have kept oil changes to 3-4k miles/6 months whichever comes first. Castrol Edge 0w40 for it since its first change at 500miles. Soot buildup wears the chain. I've had one warped exhaust manifold replaced with an updated (by Ford) cast stainless steel unit. Really the only "repair" on it. Hauled 8000lbs through the Rockies every summer loaded to the top (14000lbs total weight). 6R80 transmission serviced every 30-40k miles. Currently the truck is in Utah with my wife and younger son for some mountain biking and hiking.
