I need a low profile jack that is HIGH QUALITY and can lift at least 2 tons. Can someone recommend a good one please?

I have had a craftsman and 3 harbor freight (central hydraulics) and they have all been trash. The craftsmen blew hydraulic fluid all over my driveway after barely a month. The first harbor freight was very gritty when I went to move move the handle so I took it right back. Second one was better, made it about 8 months then it totally quit. The third one I just got from harbor freight had a 10mm bolt head break right off on me when I went to tighten the kickpedal down.

Needless to say, this is getting tiresome. I am sick of this chinese garbage.

I hear you and so do others....

I get so sick and tired about all the elite business people exclaiming to the consumer..." well because most items are now made in china labor rates are dirt cheap and we can all afford ANYTHING we want CHEAPLY. Problem is that that "anything" is always such poor quality the consumer ends up sending more in the end because they have to keep replacing all the junk since it has a very short service life!

I have a little sears mini jack that hasn't broke which will get me by for a while. But I will eventually need a more robust unit that won't blow up on me.

No offense lotoboy21 but if it's $94 it's probably garbage. I'm wanting to spend some money next time around. I'm through with the refunds/exchanges.

you need to pay more than $39, or even $99 for a good quality one. Look for made in USA, it is your highest verification to be sure.

Arcan XL35R I picked it up from Costco its a 3.5 ton low profile and weighs 100 lbs. I paid 129 and worth every penny, there is also a XL35,Northern Tool carries it but shipping is pricey.

Another Plug for the Arcan 3.5 ton. I ended up with the Arcan XL35 from Northern Tool for about $139. One look at it and you'll figure out if its high quality or not. Works great lifting my Cherokee, Explorer, and F150. I didn't have to pay shipping - local store is only a few miles away. Despite being made in China, it is a quality piece. Much better craftsmanship than another outlet had in a Made in the USA 3.5 ton at a higher price point.

That same Arcan 3.5 ton costs around $94 and change in North Virginia. It's made in the US of A, not China.

Arcan jacks are NOT made in the USA. Most of the jacks on their presses are not made here either. Take another look at your link...

For a USA made jack, you need to get a Hein Werner, Weaver or US Jack. There may be a couple more but those should get you a starting point.

You guys ever heard of milwaukee jacks? Friend said they are top of the line.

I'm looking for something in the $300-600 territory.

Riptide,

I forgot about Milwaukee but I am not sure if all of their jacks are made here. I think they are but to be sure, give them a call. The older jacks they made were excellant jacks and I'm sure the new ones would be also. I just wish that Blackhawk and Walker were still around.....

You might also try hunting a good, USA made, used jack and have it rebuilt. They will last for years and the rebuild shouldn't be more than $150 at most shops.

Thanks for the help guys.

Just an FYI, but here are the harbor freight jacks that turned out to be trash.

I had two of these. The first one was very gritty when I went to twist the handle. Took it back right away. Second one was better but got worse over time then just quit lifting after 8 months.

This last one is the one that had the 10mm bolt head snap on me last night when I was putting the kick pedal in.

Roger that though. American made jack is the big thing it sounds like. I'm willing to spend the bucks. You get what you pay for.

I'll agree that the Arcan Jack is NOT made in the USA. It clearly stated the country of Origin on the packaging (China). I know others have said it - its not that the Chinese can't make good stuff, but when you build for a price point...

I'll just say that the mine works as advertised and the quality is pretty evident when you look at it...
