High mileage oil for long OCI

Mobil 1 High Mileage and Maxlife Full Synthetic are the only high mileage full synthetics I know, and Maxlife Syn isn't really sold anywhere. That leaves Mobil 1 High Mileage, but it isn't on sale.

Would mixing say one quart of syn blend high mileage oil (such as Defy, Castrol High Mileage, or regular Maxlife) along with three quarts of full synthetic of the same brand last a full year/10k mi?

Why? You would not get a lot of High Mileage oil benefit of doing this.

If your gas mileage is 30 MPG then you need 330 gallons of gas a year, at the cost of $3.50/gal your gas cost is $1150. How much you will save by replace 1 quart Mobil 1 High Mileage with syn blend ? $3-4 ?

HTSS, the objective isn't to save a couple dollars by partially replacing full synthetic with a quart of semi-syn.

Rather, I want the extended oil change interval of synthetic but with the additives of a high-milegae oil. That is why I was lamenting the sparse availability of Maxlife full synthetic.

Like many cars 10+ years old, it leaks a bit of oil, probably about a quart a year. Hence the use of high mileage oil.

I think dave understands what I'm asking though.

Would a synthetic blend High Mileage oil last a whole year and 10k in a 98 Civic?

I misunderstood, I thought that you want to mix syn blend High Mileage(such as Defy, Castrol High Mileage, or regular Maxlife) with M1 High Mileage for 10k OCI.

Why don't you just use M1 High Mileage ? It'll be good for 10-12k miles OCI or 1 year.

My 1994 290+k miles LS400 consumes 1/2 qt syn or dino every 3-4k miles since new, I used Maxlife syn blend and Full Synthetic for few OCI's and it didn't stop the oil consumption so I didn't care for High Mileage anymore.

My 2000 140+k miles E430 didn't consume any oil during the 10-12k OCI so I didn't use High Mileage oil.

I guess I could use Mobil 1 High Mileage if I can find the 5w30 jug at Walmart, or if it goes on sale at the other places.

Oh man if only they made Castrol Edge High Mileage! (Castrol is what is currently on sale)

Regular Maxlife should be good for 7,000 miles, add or subtract a few depending on the application. If the car is seeing mostly highway miles, the regular Maxlife should work well. This probably also applies to other synthetic blend oils. Personally, I would buy a regular High Mileage oil and keep OCI under 7,000 miles (that's 1 year for me)

You would have to have a used oil analysis done first to tell if the results are achievable in your application.
