Dealer called. bad fuel pump.

I asked them to keep the sock on the pump for me in case they see anything interesting.

Resolved for a lot of $$$... The pump is $400 and the tank has to come down. Boo.

Couldnt have an access panel under my seat like my 91 BMW has?

Lame pricing, of course you'd pay an arm and a leg to have to tow it anywhere so better to eat it at the dealer and at least you are getting a good part.

PS: Yes, that price stinks for the pump alone(if I understand you right)!!!

Some guys will cut out their own and create a removable access panel. The trick is knowing exactly where to put it, and having access from inside the car or trunk to do so. Fairly common on older pickup trucks for people to do this also. With an older vehicle, I'd considered if I had resolved to do the job myself.

Was gonna say sounds like when the fuel pump in the expedition went. Was crusing around the neighborhood collecting bags of cans and bottles for a fund raiser. Was literally 2 doors down, came out to start the truck. It caught, and I put it in gear.... And it died. What? Okay try again. Park. Turn key. Catch. Chug lowly before trying. Crank. Crank. Nothing. Got parents and pushed it into driveway. Never fun.
