Help me choose a new Starter...

That's a new low that I hadn't previously considered.
A rebuilder in NY told me that's what the remans coming from outside the country were doing 10 years ago.

A reman should have a list of always replace parts. A rebuild machines or replaces what's worn or defective. Maybe a US reman has a different list of always replace parts than a reman from China or Mexico.

Is Remy anything but a name and logo for a Chinese manufacturer anymore?
Most buy from Chinese manufacturers today, some are better than others. I tried a couple of WAI and was not impressed with the quality or the fitment (10mm wider than the OE that caused a problem), the Remy at least fit properly and so far work okay so it seems there is a difference.

I actually bought the starter for my Grand Cherokee with the 4.7 from Amazon for 47.00!

i know an old timer who used to do rebuilds and I was talking to him about the huge price range on this starter. He told me the price difference is trying to match everything on the starter. He asked me if I cared to have my starter sound the same as the factory starter, which is actually made my Mitsubishi, which I told him now. He told me then go get the cheapest on Amazon.

I have had terrible luck with rebuilt starters or alternators, unless they come from the dealer that made the car. Most of the rebuilders for the chain stores and online retailers do it cheap...so Chinese bearings, and "Transpo" Chinese electrical parts (voltage regulators, etc). Garbage.

Otherwise, I get new oem, or search for a (hopefully) decent rebuilder. The only one on the list in post #1 I would trust is AC Delco.
Bosch does good rebuilds too. Their rebuilt alternator actually lasted longer than the factory new one.

6 yrs ago I bought a new starter for a 94 Ranger. 38$ from Amazon. Pure Chinesium It has worked perfectly. You wanna hate them, but they do make some good stuff. That said, I'd go for whatever the Camry needs from the original supplier.
