I've owned my K5 Blazer since 1984 and the only starters that did not fail in 6 months were AC Delco reman'd.
It's true. I say if it lasted this long, I'd consider fixing it.probably but fixing it myself would be pretty easy or i would just get another one. I think for the low cost of starters a electric motor shop would cost more than just buying a starter.
I was reading this article and it mentions two different bolts for the starter. An sae and a metric. https://autoprollc.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/6-RemyTechnicalBulletin_Feb2016_web.pdfGen 1 nor Gen 2 SBC's EVER used metric starter bolts, They're all 3/8-16.

I think the performance aftermarket was taking Denso, Mitsu or Hitachi starters and adapting them to SBC/BBC and Ford V8s for a while.I sport a Denso gear reduction unit- chev application. Trouble free starting for years.....and years.
Well- this one has all the correct stickers- and made in japan. Not a reman acd either.I think the performance aftermarket was taking Denso, Mitsu or Hitachi starters and adapting them to SBC/BBC and Ford V8s for a while.
