Hello everyone on BITOG and I hope this is the right place to post this. I just want to say thank you to everyone on this forum/board for the help, advice, info and suggestions and honest to god opinions on anything and everything I may ever need to ask. My name is Adam Vasbinder, and I work as a mechanic at the pittsburgh intl airport and have been there for 4 1/2 yrs. I was in the U.S. NAVY from 2002-2006 on minesweepers and mine countermeasures ships and did two tours in the persian gulf/Bahrain. I salute all veterans also and I am very patriotic. I am a die hard PITTSBURGH PENGUINS and PITTSBURGH STEELERS FAN. Before I joined this forum, I had a lot of second thoughts, now I dont. I also have grown to love and respect a lot of the members and sponsors on this forum also as there are a lot of very wise and smart people here.

THANK YOU LS2JSTS. Are you a DETROIT RED WINGS FAN? I am a die hard PITTSBURGH PENS FAN AND NO OFFENSE; YOUR WINGS KICKED OUR BUTTS IN 2008 STANLEY CUP. My brother works on the new gen GTO and new corvettes doing magnuson supercharger installs and cam swaps and ports the plastic intakes for people and is a mechanical engineer for TYCO(former AMP mechanical engineering company). He lives near harrisburg also and I try to see him when I can. Actually going to pens/minnesota wild game tomorrow in the BURGH'. I take it you have a vette or gto with a username of LS2JSTS!

Good guess on both counts Adam. I do own a 2006 Pontiac(Holden) GTO and I am a huge Wings fan. Screw 2009, lets talk about 2008 instead...lol. Losing that game 7 at home in 2009 was a killer, you guys stole our back to back titles from us!

If you guys can get by Philly this year, and we can get by the Canucks we may see you in the Final again this year.

Have fun at the Wild game, too bad Crosby is going to be a scratch. How long is Crosby going to be out?

Yeah, I was like my brother; when we were way overmatched and underdisciplined in 2008, we both thought the PENGUINS couldnt win in 2009. Lidstrom, Zetterberg, Osgood, Datsyuk, etc are all great. I still remember in 96' when Yzerman had that shot from the blue line to beat the ST LOUIS BLUES IN WHAT 2 0T!! Classic game as I love classic anything, history, games, football you name it. My brother has a silver 04' gto bought from a dentist in FL. Had like 43k on it, now has 92 on it I believe. Has a magnuson supercharger and he uses E85 when he can, with AMSOIL 10w30 with wix filter(he may use mobil 1 filter next oil change he says). Phiily is the PHILADELPHIA CRYERS. Yeah, got about 4" snow overnight, but roads are wet now as sunshine is out now. New arena is sweet also. I will be at the RED WINGS/PENS game on Jan 18th also in pittsburgh! Cant wait. Think only "challenge" of a team for your red wings is st louis blues this year, with Halak in goal. Howard is good goalie in my eyes, still little young but good.

The Blues? I thought they were gonna bust out last year, but they fell flat early and never recovered, although they were playing great hockey at the end of last season. They are playing well this year, and if the Nucks pull their typical playoff letdown routine, I could see the Blues in the Western Final I guess.

Our game with the Canucks tonight will be huge, although I wish both teams weren't both coming of no rest. Thanks to Buttman and his weak scheduling routine! I wish the East and West teams got to play each other more often, heck what I really wish was the Wings were in the Eastern Conference!

You dont miss the old "Igloo"? I kinda liked that place, it was loud! I haven't been to your new arena yet. Hopefully we will be getting some new digs here in the near future.
 
I was never to a game inside the "IGLOO" as I took a tour of it when it was still the CIVIC ARENA back in 92'. Yeah CONSOL ENERGY ARENA is real nice inside and has I think 3,000 more seats. Yeah; "THE JOE" is almost as old as the old MELLON ARENA! Yeah, I hate bettman; i.e. BUTTMAN myself also as I dont think he's doing a good job.

Welcome! I have a lot of family up your way. Coraopolis, Moon Township, and Swickley. "Cory" still has a small town feel to it. They'll never leave.

I miss spending Summers there as a kid. Great Italian homemade food, and my Uncle would take me to see wrestling at the Civic Arena. Couldn't be Italian, and not want to see Bruno Sammartino. Sad to hear, they are going to tear the old arena down.

Thanks for the welcome ULVER! Hey LS2JSTS I enjoyed the new CONSOL ENERGY ARENA and the game sucked as the PENGUINS played like they were hung over or somethin. Glad to see your RED WINGS won 2-1 in a SHOOTOUT. Least you guys won! My brother is talkin bout maybe gettin red wings tickets and maybe him and I drivin to detroit. Him being a mechanical engineer he has been to chicago, detroit few times and raleigh and greensboro NC. He saw a red wings/sharks game and said it was a close game but the wings won. He said your arena is old and mostly concrete and just old. He said your fans are like the steelers and pens, nice but very unforgiving and its a blue collar city like pittsburgh, but lot of [censored] off people and rightfully so. Glad your wings won, just [censored] off that the penguins lost. Yeah ULVER, the old mellon arena is right beside the consol energy center. Not lot of traffic leaving the game either.
