Heat blanket for your oil filter!

Maybe it has a magnet or two put in the material. That would give an addef bonus of more ferrous particle capturing.

Here is one implementation:
The Lava Oil Filter Shieldâ„¢ is made from a Heatshield Products proprietary volcanic rock material that can withstand temperatures of up to 1,200 degrees of continuous heat, and 2,000 degrees of intermittent ambient heat. Installation is simple: slip it over the installed oil filter. It is held in place by industrial-strength magnets, and a pull ring on the bottom of the shield allows for easy removal for oil changes and other engine service. Currently, the Lava Oil Filter Shieldâ„¢ is available for most popular American V-8 filters, with more applications coming soon.

That's a nice sharp lip on the steel covers around the oil filter to cut your hand on as if the heat of the exhaust wasn't enough.

I'd use my locking jaw cup type tool on that filter with an extension.
(Tightens and grips more as you try to loosen the filter.)

Nice find. Bet that cover isn't cheap.
