You can feel your pulse to see if it feels regular....like the beats are all the same....not like you speed up and slow back down very quickly. So tell your dr you want a D-Dimer test done as well as the Hgb A1C. Also an ultrasound to your extremities is a good idea. Also an EKG to see if you are in a-fib or not. Possibly wearing a monitor for 24 hours at home. Until you get these things checked do not massage your legs. If there is a clot you can dislodge it and then it travels somewhere like your brain, lung, or heart.....all of which can be deadly. You should have a CMP blood draw as well to check to see what your electrolytes are doing as well as some other things. Do you have any fevers? Are your feet or hands puffy? Are you urinating normally? Does your urine smell sweet? Not to be sick but they used to taste urine to see if it was sweet to test for diabetes. You should really limit your movement until a clot if ruled out. Like I said about the massage....it can travel if it is a clot. One blood sugar test that is normal means absolutely nothing. Sorry if I am jumping around but a lot of things are coming to mind. If you can post a pic of your legs I could possibly help more. If your primary care dr does not do anything like I have suggested I would find a good pulmonologist that is also an intesivist. Or a cardiologist or possibly an infectious disease dr. Anything I can do to help please dont hesitate to ask but I WOULD NOT WAIT until monday!! No way if your symptoms are the way I am taking it your life could be in danger at any moment. Not trying to scare you but a pulmonary embolism sounds like a strong possibility. So please do not take a doctor telling you that you can wait to be seen until monday! Patients right to care....they have to see you or refer you to someone that can see you for your problems! Prayers also sent your way.
Yeah, my foot and hand have both gone extremely cold to the touch. This occurs randomly and so does the numbness in my right foot.
I haven't had any more numbness in my hands, chest, or face. My doctors suspects I panicked, maybe hyperventilated, when that occurred. I can't say he's wrong because I really was panicked at the time.
The numbness in my right foot comes and goes. I have quite a bit of pain around the calf and ankle, so I suspect that's nerve pain or pain from the varicose veins. Not real sure, because it travels a bit and the location isn't consistent. No swelling or hotness, but it's tender to touch. Pain is worse at night.
Pulse in my feet are good. Same in both hands. The ER checked that as well.
I don't notice any heart related concerns. My regular doctor and the ER both said they weren't concerned either. I didn't show any signs of clots in the artery system, but they said I could have one in a superficial vein.
I'll probably be referred to a vein or vascular doctor after the neurologist.
They checked electrolytes and they were fine. No kidney or urine issues. Everything seems to be fine there.
I'm waiting on hearing on the A1C and they're checking alot of disorders, vitamin b12, thyroid, etc. in the next bloodwork. I'm supposed to hear something today on that.
I see the neurologist in 2 weeks.
Pretty crazy stuff. I can honestly say that if someone is not getting a check up, don't be like me and wait until something major happens! I have learned a lesson in all of this. I've also changed my eating habits and lost around 9 pounds since this all started.
