My local stores have it in stock now.

I used two jugs of the 10W-30 on back to back 5,000 mile oil change intervals. O'Reilly's had it on clearance for about $6 a jug, so it was too good of a deal to pass up. That was the old stuff not the latest formulation.

I guess you totally ignored my PP VOA then I posted a while ago eh? It had a TBN below 8

Think on that genius

Well your posts are full of feelings. One you don't understand TBN retention that is clear. "Conventional" does not start with low TBN.

Burla is a "genius" in his own mind. I'll take PP with its low under 7 TBN any day. Nothing wrong with Havoline either. I also posted a VOA of our shops bulk oil Safety Kleen 5w30 blend and it even had below 8 TBN

I'm going to guess that the the average consumer does not know anything about tbn. So blaming a lower tbn on poor sales may not be the real reason for poor sales.

Look up Porsche A40 testing... Video online about it...

And then tell me some how or someway a regular API SN approval is any where near that tough??

Yeah.. apples and oranges... Huge difference...

That's a fact Hoss... Not opinion. A fact. Specifications mean a lot.

Go get him bbhero. This guy just loves to instigate arguments here with no basis.

When you mentioned those CCS numbers in another thread I had to check that out. Those are indeed very low.

The Havoline Pro DS might be the new sleeper oil here.

I have not used this oil yet but I stocked up on some for my Ford Fusion 2.5l. BITOG members say its a quality oil and I feel at 20 bucks for box of six quarts the value is there. Every time I went to walmart the space on the shelf was empty. One night I saw a full shelf and bough all six boxes and six filters. I plan on using the ProDs 5w30 at 5k OCI. I also plan on a UOA after the first run. I will probably post it here later in the year.

Need to wait for the used oil to cool down, but the spout is big enough for a funnel.

Funnel the box stands more stabile than a 5 quart jug. Just dropp the box with oil capped back at Walmart for disposal.

I take offense at that. Most of my wine comes from a box.

PitPack?

Shell/Pennzoil had their EcoBox system. It was mentioned here, but I can't find any official mention of it any more. Lots of old pictures.

Valvoline settled on 5 gallons for some reason.

I actually looked in to one of those big boxes pictured above. After I broke down the cost on a per quart basis I found the cost was much higher than if I purchased the 6 qt bag in a box. I was thinking it would be nice to have one big box with a spout for everything in the garage but it makes no sense if you cant buy in bulk at a price that makes sense.

I think those are meant for the quickie lube or professional market where they can probably get a much better price purchasing dozens of them at a time. Obviously the Havoline-branded lube shops are franchised by Chevron where they'll sell the oil at a good price.

I can see the benefit of those compared to 55 gallon drums. I know that reels usually have long hoses accessible in the service bay, but I'd think it's a lot easier to deal with a 40 lb box of motor oil. Don't 55 gallon drums require a forklift?

If those big boxes fit your needs then I would suggest contacting a Chevron distributor. That is where you might see some savings.

Yeah, good idea. I would really love to make a stand and have one box for conventional for OPE and one box of SN+ for vehicles. This would keep me out of Walamart forever, and thats a very satisfying thought. Of course I would still need my Rotella T6 15w40 for the dirtbikes.
