Have you ever stopped along the highway and picked up a stray 5 gallon bucket?

Five gallon plastic buckets have been around for years but what has caused the up tick over the past 5-7 years of buckets blowing out of pickup trucks onto the highways? I see these all the time now on the interstate but would not risk my life stopping for something that costs $2. I did pick one up once on a benign road. In it's former life it was used as a tar pitch bucket for a roofer ... :(

I picked up a like new 5 gallon plastic fuel "can" while driving on a city street where I could pull off into a nearby side lot. Would I stop to pick up a bucket? No, no, no.

No, but there was a nice looking wagon/utility cart that I saw on the far inside lane of a concrete barricade divided interstate one day, and I wanted that sucker in a bad way. I wanted even more not to get hit by other vehicles on a busy interstate so there it sat until I assume someone else crazier than me eventually stopped and got it.

Stopping on a highway with upwards of 80mph traffic is a bit dangerous. It's getting dangerous to stop on a 30mph side road... I'd think twice about stopping for something of little value.

If I can pull over safely and not cause anyone else to hit their brakes, heck yes. I pulled over for a nice piece of 4x4 post the other day.
