Your posted product data sheet dates back to September, 2004. I doubt it applies to the new GTX formulation(s).

Wow! I had no idea that anyone would be offended. I am a simpleton at times and prefer to reduce situations to simple terms. Perhaps "purist" is better term, but I am left wondering "pure what?"
Perhaps if you are buying an oil based exclusively on its base, you may want ask yourself why. Then you can let us know what the appropriate adjective should be.

Completely off topic, I am reminded of my only trip New York. I ordered a sandwich and they asked "white or wheat?". I was absolutely dumbfounded. I asked the guy to repeat himself and he replied "white bread or wheat bread?" I was so curious I had to ask, "you have white bread that is not made of wheat?" When I saw his confused look I replied, "dark or whole wheat please". I have since learned that the vast majority of the country would have understood him. And yet, it is a fact that the only grain used to make white bread is wheat.

Has anyone checked for UOA's of Syntec? There are about three or four on all of BITOG. It truely is treated like the plague.
Why worry about Syntec when GTX has the magic?

This sounds a bit like the "turbo approved" hype on Castrol GTX bottles in the early 1990s.
I don't believe anyone is going to be a sucker ... it was pretty good oil before the reformulation.

I just went to Wal-Mart, bought some Castrol Gtx, some hamburger helper and ordered a gallon of LC20.
I doubt I'll be hungry after dinner or that my engine will blowed up any time soon.
If I am proved wrong, you guys will be the first to know.

I buy on cost/performance. Not on what the base oil is. I want low wear, few deposites, and long drain interval. Just because it is grp IV/V that does not mean that it is better than all grp III oils. Does it? Plus we don't really know what the current Syntec base oil is. Do we? We know at the time of the lawsuit it was Grp III, but we don't know what it is now.
Like Terry says, make your oil decision based on informed analysis. Not brand, marketing or even the base oil. (not an exact quote I am sure)
The "inferior" grp III (probably) Syntec performed better than the "superior" PAO M1 in every measureable way in my UOA's.
