Man you guys need to ease off this guy. He asked a question. If you think its pointless then don't reply. I thought this site was about helping people and learning. Atleast it use to be........

So, FastSUV, it comes down to personal taste. If it helps any, I find that snifters are best for bringing out the bouqet in dino oils, and mouth feel is certainly enhanced if you let them sit and breath for 10-20 min before quaffing.

It still is. My only point was I have read many of Fasts posts and many of his questions. He is a smart guy that knows there is really not gonna be an answer for this question. I really was not trying to be a smart axx or anything, just wondering what the motivation for a question, he knows that he is just gonna get gerneric preferences. Im not saying it is a stupid question, im sure i have asked questions that to many are considered stupid. Im just saying he knows the answers he is gonna get. Very broad question with no real answer. Better for what?

Carrie Underwood's pic was snagged from bittenandbound.com........I don't even want to go there.....

I pick Valvoline

'I don't even want to go there..... '

Then don't, because I didn't.

Simply got it off Google. Just looking for a nice pic of Carrie. If the address offends you, don't read the properties, you couldn't wait to post. Anything wrong with the pic of Carrie?

hey now guys...part of the fun is posting questions like this...even if you do give me a vote of confidence as being "enlightened" in the realm of motor oils. I have no ego to bear.

Honestly, I know this is a generic question but none the less I like to hear the diverse responses and often find that in threads like this some of the best answers surprisingly surface when people share their experiences and knowledge about two tageted brands.

And for the record I did not just post this for fun; I was a long time Castrol user and many friends over the years have sworn by Valvoline dino and I guess I'm feeling guilty for not being a Valvoline man...I just flat out do not use it...kinda like Ford vs Chevy. I was always a GM guy until I got into Jeeps...To me Castrol GTX was like gold and now I'm wondering between these two if there is constructive debate to be had that might confirm my loyalty to Castrol over Valvoline WB or if people could share their opinions as to why they might think Valvoline is somehow a better choice. I use Mystik & Pennzoil now but I needed to get this out.

I know but this horse has been beaten to death...Mystik oil used to come from my home state made by CATO oil company...many farmers & ranchers & truckers would swear by it...It is rumored that to this day Citgo maintained the integrity of the oil and maybe even put more into R&D and improved it. It is also made in its own independent factory seperate from other Citgo oils...It is like its own little company still and definitely Citgo's PREMIUM line of lubes...

And for that matter both Citgo & Mystik employ hundreds or even thousands of American workers in Houston & New Orleans, etc...I do not like that it is owned by Chavez but the oklahoma connection and the other facts mentioned have allowed me to rationalize enough to try it...their JT-6 grease is the best grease money can buy...And I have yet to see any "high-milage" gear oils but their dino gear oil says on the bottle that it contains special seal conditioners for higher mileage axles...

I know I am rationalizing, but it is good oil and this is the "free market" still...kinda ironic huh?

I wish I was a Valvoline man since they are 100% American...they just do not do much for me I guess.

Have used both these oils and they work great. What a guy could do I guess is buy two identical vehicles, put GTX in one and Valvoline in the other, drive them as see which one out lives the other...........just a thought!

My money will not be going to any company whose profits pad Chavez's pockets, but that's just me.

Well, I did buy two tubes of JT-6 for boat trailer wheel bearings (not the best grease you can buy by a long shot, IMO), but when I pulled up the PDS and saw the big Citgo logo on the top of the page I felt duped. Something told me to buy that tube of Pennzoil marine grease at Wal-Mart, I still wish I had.
