GTL oils

I did a search for GTL Oil on google and found that it's a process of turning gases into liquids to create lubricants and fuels.

Is there anyone producing or planning to produce such a fuel/oil? That I don't know. I'm sure there's some big money backing up this research so I'd say it's a safe bet we'll be seeing this eventually.

Isn't PAO made by converting a gas molecule into liquid? I've seen some suggest that PAO is actually a petroleum product because it is made by converting a (petroleum) gas into liquid.

How does GTL differ so much that it is considered a group III+ ?

As I understand it, its mainly natural gas that is converted to oil for these "GTL" lubes. Pennzoil Platinum is an example, IIRC. Does anyone have more info on them?
