HDEO with a GTL base oil?

@RDY4WAR Do you know if Rotella T6 0W-40 has foaming issues? Based on the testing specs, it appears the formulation is different than the T4 15W-40.

I have a lot of the T6 0W-40 from the AAP clearance that I was planning to use in the Mercedes 300D 2.5 turbo with the OM602 engine.

Thanks,

Sam

Either way, I do think using consumer grade oils available at AutoZone and TSC in a serious racing application is pretty foolish. And in before someone says something about Amsoil or LiquiMoly, etc. Those are not typical oils available at those locations.
Except:
Mobil 1 Full Synthetic 0W-40
Mobil 1 ESP x4 0W-40
Castrol Euro Car 0W-40
Pennzoil Platinum Euro 5W-40

I know you have a very deep issue with Rotella so much that you have large caps and large font with BROtella in your signature. I have no problem with the Mobil 1 either. Just checked and prices are about the same. Probably will not work in my specific application, but worth a try. I have an extra clutch pack so if it trashed the clutch then who cares.

I really do not understand your fixation with arguing so much about Rotella and really so many other things on this forum. Nobody on here that I am aware of has some deep emotional connection to Rotella. Maybe there are morons using it in the wrong applications, like mentioned. That's their problem. This forum is about experimenting and analyzing. You appear, on the surface, to attach a lot of negatives to this.

It's true, oil is not oil. If you don't like Rotella, then don't use it. We aren't making you use it.

I've been lurking for years and the biggest thing I've learned is what I knew all along... for regular driving and riding you can pretty much use whatever is available off the shelf (and no, I'm not talking about no-name dusty quarts at the shady gas station) if you stay on top of your maintenance. True synthetics and boutique oils can have longer drain intervals if that is important to you. When you start using cheap diesel oil in your Subaru or your motorbike you are completely on your own and may or may not be an issue.

People like Rotella because it's cheap and easily available and works well for a wide variety of applications outside what it's meant for, though that doesn't mean it's a panacea. Plenty of people here just use Supertech and don't have issues either.

Running more exotic oils or going outside of that and experimenting is a big part of BITOGs culture.

I don't have "very deep issue" with Rotella. I never had diesel vehicle, so I've never use it. But even if I have, I would run ACEA C3 or ACEA A3/B4 Euro oil before Rotella which ACEA E11 (for commercial trucks, tractors and busses).

I have objections (not issues) to people running Rotella in gasoline engines, including motorcycle engines because it's a diesel oil and also because people say it's a good oil but after all they use it because is the cheapest possible.
I believe that every oil is designed with particular purpose in mind and don't believe in "oil is oil".

In my previous post I just mentioned oils that are good in racing applications as tge post that I replied to was about that. I just edited it and added two more oils Castrol and Pennzoil.

Why? What does it matter? I am using because it is the cheapest possible that isn't complete garbage. Been running fine for many for many years in a wet MC shared sump. I change my oil frequently. You get so bent out of shape about it insomuch you got a signature over it.

You got a vintage bike, you know that just changing the oil more frequently matters way more than Rotella vs Mobil 1.

I would like to keep my signature though. I like the term Brotella which is not mine, somebody else came up with it.

In my motorcycles I like to run motorcycle oils:
Valvoline 4T 10W-40 (conventional or synth)
Mobil 1 4T 10W-40
Motul Transoil Expert 10W-40

These are great oils with Valvoline the best for the price.

Living in a country which 1st economy power in the world and buying cheap oil for like $5 a quart is not worth on a long run. Better save money from cigarettes, food and drink than motor oil.

I don't know what's up with the forum on Rotella.
You will see!
Yeah, there's better stuff out there and this stuff is performing fine.
Better is what BITOG is all about, at least for me.

.
You got people calling it "BROtella" which really shows off the immaturity around here and goes on complete crusades to crush it.
The calling thing is from experience with this oil from certain members.
Yet, we tell everyone who has a slight hesitation off-throttle to switch to Valvoline Restore and Protect.
Can you give us a Link to what you have posted?
Not sure what is the big deal with the vendetta against Rotella.
It is cheap
It's cheap and I change it frequent enough it's a non-issue in my application.
Time will Tell!
