Group U1 Battery with terminals on "short" end

Yes sir

Those are designed to take a regular U1 size as a replacement for that bitty battery installed at the factory. I will say that those little guys have a pretty good track record for holding up.

You don't have to use the original type battery though. The box is large enough for a regular U1 and the cables will reach.

^^^^Yep, if you look at the print on the battery hold down clamp in that photo, that is exactly what it states. Nice upgrade to a universally available and cheaper U1 battery with more power capacity.

If it's an option, Costco sells standard terminal configured U1 interstate branded batteries. Mine said I didn't need to bring in the old one as there wasn't a core charge.

Just get a standard U1 and call it a day. I run the 230 CCA in my lawn tractor with a 22 HP B&S V-Twin. Some folks prefer the 300 CCA variant but I don't see any need for it. My machine is in its twelfth season with its third battery. The first two went ten years combined and this one is on its second season. Both replacements came from Walmart.

At 5 years now you know why I am taking a look. Seems like I could score a replacement rapidly when required. Thanks
It gets cold where I live and my first two batteries got me through ten years. Cold means ten degrees most winters and minus ten degrees last winter. My first replacement cost $30 and the second $35. Don't overthink this.
