Okay. Many brands of synthetics use Group 1 as an additive carrier and if only used for that purpose, it's not considered a basestock.
The other thing was that it sounded like you didn't read the thread by Tom NJ that posted the results of his Gas Chromatography analysis on some M1 EP grades. Did you not see it? Yes he found a lot of what he thought was Group 3 in the oils he tested.
