Green oil from Mobil 1

Nice share!
I wonder which Porsche and Jaguar Land Rover models will show up with this recommendation.

"Jaguar Land Rover, Porsche and Volkswagen Group have all approved the new Mobil 1 formulation that is now commercially available. Karl Dums, director of advanced engineering powertrain and powertrain strategy at Porsche, said, “The low-viscosity formulation of Mobil 1 ESP x2 0W-20 offers the compelling performance benefits demanded by our premium vehicles, as well as improved fuel efficiency for our drivers.”

Looks like the finally took a page from Schaeffer. One of the characteristics of Schaeffer was the green color primarily from their proprietary anti friction additive called Penetro. Schaeffer uses some Mobil base stock so maybe they did a swap on things.

The label on the linked picture is interesting... it says "ESP" but the text reads "Advanced Fuel Economy." I've been wondering if the ESP and AFE lines would eventually merge, and I wonder if this is a step that way?

IDK, the existing 5W30 ESP is not much of an AFE-type oil...HTHS is nearly 3.6, compared to 3.0-3.1 for their other 5W30s.

In 10 years, the oil in our engine may be permanently placed there by the manufacturer.

I wouldn't mind throwing it in the Prius to see how it would do.

"The team’s efforts resulted in Mobil 1 ESP x2 0W-20, a motor oil that is actually green in color, differentiating it from other Mobil 1 formulations. During development, they documented that the innovative, low-viscosity synthetic motor oil could help improve fuel efficiency — up to 4 percent — without sacrificing performance and durability of gasoline- and diesel-powered engines."

Did they test the 0w20 on diesels too or another weight with the same technology I wonder.

Are they trying to say Mobil 1 ESP 0w20 meets VW 502 and similar? I don't see how that is possible no matter what is in it.

Not in anything I own ...

Basically it's an attention grabber to get you to purchase a "new" inferior product. Like they say there is a sucker born every minute

I've turned my oil green by mixing Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 0w20 with Lubegard Biotech. I use it to prime the oil filter. Only takes 2/3 bottle, but it sure helps ready the orange dipstick easier.

I guess I'm the only one that would have a hard time putting oil in my engine that's not amber brown like normal. Green, purple, or red, no thanks! I'd rather the money be spent on the additive pack, not the color of the oil personally..

Well, if the green color is from an actual additive they are using to make the product better, then it might be worth it. If it is just from a dye in the oil, then point taken.
