Got honked at for stopping at a red light 😂

I'll wait a few seconds when the green light appears and quickly look to the right and left for the red light beaters . Have avoided quite a few possible collisions . I'll take my chances getting rear ended by an impatient driver over a possible side impact or head on . Put on headlight low beams on for those waiting at stops on side roads to be seen better and that isn't enough . Lot of aggressive and inconsiderate drivers .

...and most of them are on their phones......we have a law against that too, but like all of the other traffic laws, it isn't enforced...

Two days ago, wife and I are doing 10 km/hr over the 60 km/hr posted limit. A newer Suburban passes us on a double solid line when an oncoming car comes around the curve ahead. Suburban driver doesn’t hit his brakes and pull back behind us, but pulls into our lane. I have to nail the brakes and drive onto the shoulder or there would have been a collision.
I don’t understand how driving like that can make any kind of sense to anyone.
I think when one has 145 cu ft of cargo space, they are the undisputed king, and sometimes it goes to their heads…

I liked it better when I could hold the phone up where the steering wheel was. Not keep it in my lap so the cops don't see it 😂

Sunday I entered I-26 on an on ramp I have used hundreds of times. Its a long ramp with an additional 1000 feet (I measured it in google) acceleration lane. So the whole thing is almost 1/2 mile long - you can be going any speed you want. So I come flying down the ramp and the big rig puttsing along in the right lane blares his air horn? Don't know if he didn't realize there was an acceleration lane or that I was already going much faster than he was. We were the only two on the road so it was obviously meant for me.

They like to honk at anything they think is being wreckless

Some people want to go to war over being honked at . I don't care if people want to honk . It's not going to change how I operate .

Yeah, I don't get the outrage over being honked at. Get over yourselves people...

Its not all that common around here. It startles me - makes me instantly think I am missing something or did something wrong. Honking is supposed to be a warning, not a method of displaying your displeasure.

But I get your point - I could care less what people actually think of me.

Four out of five times when I see someone driving like they are drunk they are either texting or have a phone up to their ear. Even though it is illegal here there is zero traffic enforcement (and the local law enforcement has admitted as much) so some scofflaws do it anyway. The other one out of the five is likely actually drunk (or high on something).
Case in point, just yesterday I was driving in the left lane following a cop when an idiot made a left turn from the right lane IN FRONT of the cop, after slamming on the brakes the cop and I also turned left but the cop went right by the idiot, when I got next to her guess what, she was on the phone. She should have gotten two tickets.

Remember, don't take it personally. The other guy doesn't know you from Adam. Relax and think before reacting to Joe Blow. If someone cuts you off I'm pretty sure he's not targeting you personally. Keep your nose clean and pointed forward. Let it go! It's the prudent thing to do.

I clearly remember driving in NYC when young (22-25), and being honked at before the light even changed. I was able to tell myself it's actually not personal, it's the big city. But I suppose in suburbia it seems to be rudeness, say if nobody is around and a person does that.

Believe it or not, I think there's a difference between a light tap, and hand down on the horn button. I've done the latter when people clearly use the right turn lane to pass everyone lined up to go straight. Then the right arrow lights up, and they stay put, because they are going to beat out the cars on their left, to go straight...

Same here. If it looks like someone is spacing out, I'll just do a light tap. Sit there after that and the horn goes on and stays on.

One problem I have near me is an intersection where 2 US highways meet. The left turn light is set so that if you don't move immediately on green, it goes to yellow right away - yet, if someone is running their red light I'll get hit. And Illinois law says that if someone runs the red light and we meet, I'm at fault even though I had the green because it's on me to ensure the intersection is clear for me to safely enter it.
