Well. I ran conventional up to 150k. I ran 2 auto rx treatments at 150k and then ran German Castrol 0w30 synthetic.(dumb) The engine just did not like the synthetic. At start up it just didn't sound the same, it loped and puttered around. At warm idle it just didn't sound right. So anyway, the engine has always liked Pennzoil conventional, so thats what I went with, 5w30. Cold and warm idle on YB is very smooth to my ears. I was kind of leary to use Maxlife since the engine just didn't seem to like any form of synthetic at this point at all. The oil pressure is rock solid and it burns no oil at all. Sludge, well I've never noticed anything, the van always ran great but it could be there I guess.

The employee gave dated advice.
When 100k miles was a lot, he had a valid point.
But if you are not burning excessive oil, stay with the 30 until you need something heavier.
You may have to wait a LONG time!]
