15 round? why not 17?

I dont quite get this one.

Really, in Europe, many countries do not allow a like caliber gun for civilian use, as it is used in military service......meaning no 9mm Nato. #80 ACP is the next best thing so, why not........But this is not Europe, we can carry a desert Eagle if we want.

Weird gun, but could be good if 19 size, but with 17 capacity

Anyone got one? My wife carries a 42

Same size as Glock 19 which is 15 rounds, and .380 is basically a short 9mm, so same height magazine. This is the Glock that was unavailable to purchase in the USA until they started producing it here. It's a pointless gun, IMHO.

My thoughts are, if the Gen 3 - 9mm is the same price, why limit yourself to .380?
That's why I see it as a pointless gun. Same size as Glock 19 9mm, same capacity, but in .380. No thanks.

Pablo's points are valid, though. Some ladies prefer .380, so I guess it's not pointless.

I never saw enough of a recoil difference in 9 and 380 to make me want a 380 over 9. Maybe the difference is a lot more pronounced in a both lighter and shorter grip gun where it could buck a bit more but this isn't that since it's a full size with some weight even if it's polymer.

I guess this could be a good option if you're an older guy with arthritis and wear baggy clothes letting you conceal a full size? or it's just a gun that the wife can resort to.

I mean i get it. 380 is lighter recoil, but the could have made it a bit more capacity at least.

i am not against the gun or 380 for that matter.

If it's a G19 frame, slide, etc how could it hold more rounds in the same size magazine? 9mm rim diameter is .392", .380 is .374", difference is .018". .018" x 15 = .270", another round won't fit.

Agree it seems unnecessary unless a person is recoil sensitive.

I’ve spent litterally months of my life at gun ranges. A full size .380 pistol is the ideal pistol for a large portion of the shooting public. I own the G25 and it’s a fanatic shooting gun with perhaps 40% less recoil than a G19.

I’ve been screaming for years the need for a full size .380. I wish Smith & Wesson and Ruger and Sig Sauer would get on the ball and give us a full size pistol with a 4.5 inch barrel and a 15-17 round magazine.

These are sweet guns and they are a big enough caliber for defensive use. Larger guns are more reliable and less likely to jam and offer better ballistics than the mouse guns.

Most .380 pistols are blowback actions with a fixed barrel. This amplifies recoil quite a bit. If the .380's you've shot were something like the Walther PPK or a Bersa, then yeah, those are going to have pretty stiff felt recoil, but .380 in a Glock with it's delayed action recoil system is going to recoil way less than a 9mm.

I always thought that Glock would sell a ton of pistols if they offered a G19 sized pistol holding 30ish rounds of .22 mag.

Right, this is why fixed barrels were and I would argue more reliable than a locking design for 380. Typical 380 is not made to move such massive slides. Not enough weight or juice, all things being equal

Evidence of this is PPK and clones, and Makarov (9x18 or 380)

If it's a G19 frame, slide
It could be, other than the slide. There would have to be some sizing difference in the slide. I would be concerned a bit with the distance the bullet would have to travel to reach the feed ramp of the barrel.......Which lead me to think there are some differences with the frame aswell.

Keltec did that; how did it turn out?

Still a rimfire but with a long skinny rimmed case. IIRC that can make for feeding problems.

But if Glock made it, it surely would sell.

Lighter people tend to perceive recoil differently generally speaking

My wife doesn’t like heavy iron. I get that. My guess she would not like the CZ82 because it is dense. IE heavy for the size. But she loves the thing

Secret is she can shoot it accurately using good skills so she forgets recoil and density

Right, should have said G19 size frame, slide, etc. with appropriate mods to shoot .380.
