Do you guys have ghosts in the venue where you live?

If you do, are you bothered by it? The pop culture depicts them as scary creatures but so far I have not experienced anything negative done by them.

In some religions and beliefs its held that Spirits are always around you, both good and bad. The good always watch and never interfere, the bad watch but make themselves known at times.

When there is interference its more demonic than ghosts/sprits. I believe in them, and have experienced phenomenon that isn't explained.

MIL's house, wife and I were sitting there(this was when we were dating) her cat walks by and starts freaking out. Hair is up, back arched and its staring into the hallway. We both look at the cat and we see the bathroom door(it's closed) door knob start moving really fast as if someone is trying to open a locked door wriggling the knob.

Nobody else was home. Another time I was lying in bed with the wife(gf at the time) at her parents house till she fell asleep and heard chairs moving downstairs(again nobody was home, they were all out). I went downstairs and the chairs were moved...

I do want to visit some really haunted places but nobody ever wants to come with me. We should make a BITOG outing of it!

The real question is what ARE ghosts.....or the strange phenomenon we identify (perhaps completely inaccurately) with the dead. I've had a few encounters with some really strange happenings many years ago. Made be a believer in at least SOMETHING strange going on. I am a skeptic for the most part.....but the things I've seen and heard (and felt) were very real to me and others who witnessed it. But who knows what the source is....may someday all be explained as a 'natural' occurrence and not true 'ghosts' at all.

Can pets be ghosts, too? The ghost in question is a man that is seen with a dog.

I do believe in ghosts, and the paranormal in general. Maybe when when I get home from work tonight, I'll elaborate, but for now I'll just leave it at that.....

I'd like to hear peoples stories on this topic. I've never personally experience any ghosts.

I've noticed that the better you understand the human mind, the fewer ghosts you see.

Christmas morning around 7am in 1972 when i was 5.
Sat up in bed and started to get up when a cloudy form of a person comes through my doorway.I felt like the room temperature dropped to 40f and a chill ran up and down my spine.

Threw the covers over my head and screamed for mom and dad,When they came in it was gone. This house was later sold and knocked down and a church built there!

Mom later said she saw something once also.

Later in the 80's i saw a toolbox lid banging up and down when i was home alone(other house).Ran out and didn't come back till someone else got home.Never saw anything else.

A professor at Auburn University is giving a seminar on the supernatural. Getting a feel for his students, he asks "How many of you believe in ghosts?" About 80 of his students raise their hands.

"That's a good start I suppose. Those of you who believe in ghosts, how many have actually seen a ghost?" About 30 students raise their hands.

"That's good. I'm really glad you're taking this seriously. Ok, has anyone here ever talked to a ghost?" About a dozen students raise their hands.

"That's a great response. Has anyone ever touched a ghost?" Two students raise their hands. "That's fantastic. But let me ask you one last question... have any of you ever made love to a ghost?"

Billy Bob, in the back of the class, raises his hand. The professor is astonished. He removes his glasses, takes a step back, and says, "Billy Bob, in all the years I've been giving this lecture, no one has ever actually claimed to have slept with a ghost. Why don't you come up here and tell us about it."

Billy Bob replies with a nod and a grin, and begins to make his way up to the podium. The professor says, "Well, tell us what it's like to have sex with a ghost."

Billy Bob replies, "Ghost? ... I thought you said 'goat'!

In our case, I saw a man walking a dog in our living room. When I asked my wife if she thinks there are ghosts, she asked me if I had seen "the man with the dog". This makes me think that there is indeed a ghost man with a dog hanging around in our house.

Was spending a couple days partying with my aunt, caretaker at a summer-only island, in the middle of winter.

We checked on a residence, its 9v smoke alarm was beeping, we took the battery out and left the thing on the kitchen table for them to find and fix when they returned. Toured the house, nothing was amiss.

That night, new moon, we noticed cliched dim green light coming from the 2nd and 3rd story windows. Checked the place again (power off at main breaker) and found noone, but some blankets and sheets askew from the linen closet. Squatters? we thought.

Creeped out and on edge, we returned to HQ and were discussing the paranormal. On cue, a framed picture of a CHURCH jumps off its nail in the wall and crashes to the floor.

I enjoy hearing about peoples personal experiences with the paranormal. I myself believe spirits exist, but I always try to explain it before believing it. In our two situations there were no explanations.

I do believe pets/animals to linger as well.

Please, guys, tell me you all are not serious. I was willing to play along but now I'm starting to get worried.

My wife swears there is something living in this house. I thought she was nuts until it knocked a candy dish off a table a few years back. It was during the fall, my wife son, dog, and myself were in the living room watching the TV. We have a small table that is against the wall in the kitchen. It had a candy dish on it, located at the center of the table against the wall. It fell on the floor, the opposite end of the table with no one in the room, no wind and in a spot on the table that made a fall to the floor w/o assistance impossible. If I wasn't home to hear the fall, and pick up the candy I would never have believed her. My wife sometimes smells cigarettes and cologne, and has experienced some other weird events. That I haven't encountered anything other than the candy dish yet.

Hmm.. For those of you who have seen stuff moving along in the house, have you tried putting up camcorder all over the place and see if it can be recorded? I know it sounds obvious but it may help you figure out what is actually going on if it is not a ghost.

I hope he at least cleans up after the dog. Ghostly dog dirt will never go away!

Sure you're not sneaking out in the middle of the night for a nip and a smoke? (sheesh, censor filter caught UK slang for a cigarette)

I used to sleepwalk frequently as a teenager and would set off the house alarm. My dad would sweep through the house with a Mag-Light and an M1 carbine only to find me sitting in the living room, watching TV (television off the whole time) with a 130 dB alarm blaring. He'd ask me to go back to bed and I'd chat for a minute before going back to my bedroom. Completely asleep the whole time, no memory of it ever.

On the topic of the supernatural, I haven't experienced anything quite like it myself, but my great uncle's chest of belongings was heard moving in my grandfather's attic more than once. Every time someone went up to investigate, it had been moved. He was killed in the Battle of the Bulge and there were several other events like this that took place with his belongings, especially around the anniversary of his death. I've seen things moved out of place or unexplained noises, but nothing that clear.

You should be worried as ghosts or what ever they are are all around.
