VERY interesting...I expected a bigger increase in LSPI protection!
Good post!

EDIT - wondering now if LSPI was just not a concern for GF-5 and the line for its spider is just continued through that area, anyway?

It looks like sludge control and piston cleanliness took a big jump. This could be a good deal for a modern smogger with GDI and a turbo.

This spider seems to have had some of it's legs surgically removed.

The leg for 'cost to the consumer' is strangely absent; probably because it was fat and ugly.

The leg for benefit-to-cost ratio has been amputated; probably because it was horribly withered.

The legs for outrageously high volatility, oil loss, deposits and premature oil darkening cause by oil burning, late onset excessive oil consumption due stuck oil control rings were chopped because they were frankly an embarrassment to look at!

I dont think anyone knows for sure because it keeps getting put back. True to form, the spider runs round in circles giving the appearance of motion but never actually getting anywhere...

I was just thinking the same thing.

I'm starting to feel it may be blown out of proportion on BITOG. It is a problem with GDI turbos and obviously as an oil community we want an oil to be the solution, but I'm thinking that it is only a small piece of the puzzle. Poor engine design cant be fixed by oil no matter how much we think it should.

I will say with the increased oxidation control and piston cleanliness, the lines between "synthetic" and "conventional" will become even more blurred than they already are since GF-5/SN.
