Update for the update. After exposing gas samples to elements for 3 months, I rinsed them with fresh gasoline to put some deposits/oils back into solution, This emulated boat starting after layout and fresh gas getting into carb bowl. This is what's left after the rinsing and drying.
10% TCW3:
Stabil:
Seafoam:
Control (no additive) gas:
MMO:
Seafoam + Stabil:
In this final result, concentrated TCW3 is the best with little deposits that cannot be dissolved back by gasoline.
Stabil is close second, and Seafom does show some stabilizing results.
MMO is the worst, worse than the straight gas.
This actually confirms a tip I found on a classic car forum to pour TCW3 oil into a carb bowl before a long layout.
The results also raise a question without good answer. If Stabil is so good at controlling deposits "in vitro", how come my carb was ruined by using gas with stabil all the time?
Maybe the small residual deposits accumulated after near 10 years? Or maybe some octane boosting additives I used in the part produces the deposits? I guess I will never know.
From now on, my boat gas is treated by stabil and low concentration of TCW3. Will spike the carb bowl with more TCW3 before storage too.
