Took the GS out to gas up; it didn't need too much but I figured I'd make sure it was ready if wifey needed it. There is one station, Moe's Stop, that is cheaper than Costco. currently right now $4.78 for rag and $5.09 for wannabe 91 premium. Crazy, I know. Costco was $5.36 for premium. As you might guess, this station does a lot of business.

So one guy had backed his Silverado to an end pump which blocked the entire side of 3 pumps. A number of customers were waiting... As I was finishing my measly 7 gallons, another "gentleman" said to the Silverado, "You're old enough to know how to drive through this station and not block others." I am leaving out the other words. As the words and voices began to escalate back and forth, I put my hands out and said, "Stop you two; it ain't worth it." I got a few choice words myself... Ha! Luckily the Silverado was gone before the other hothead came out from paying. A number of the other customers, and I, were glad it was over.

These prices can quickly put us all on edge. Please be careful out there and keep a cool head. It ain't worth it.

I suppose he could have parked like that for $2.49 in Houston a few days ago - only it would be a 3500 with a .40 inside and I’d have said “nice truck” 👀

It's sad that some people can't display simple courtesy, or rather can't keep themselves from being so blatantly rude and obnoxious.

Wow! I don't know how folks can stand gas prices in CA. The worst I've seen here in my hometown was $3.59 just two days ago. Yesterday it went to $3.39 and tonight, several stations dropped to $3.29 and the BP went to 3.19. We were at about $2.49 before the war.

I saw Brent Crude today at $85 a barrel, so not surprising it's starting to come down. The only surprise is that it is coming down that quickly. Usually they go way up quickly but are very slow to come down.

One of Murphy's more obscure and very rare laws. I guessing the energy industry is under considerable public heat at the moment and is doing anything it can to minimize the pain (for them and us). That includes reacting quickly to price fluctuations. Quick price decreases are probably very hard and unusual for them to swallow..

Yes sir! I don’t like selfish people. That guy gives other truck drivers a bad reputation. If you are going to drive a big vehicle then learn how the size affects others. And learn how to park it properly whether at a gas pump or grocery store.
That’s why I stopped buying fuel at our local Sam’s. The absolutely insufferable group of entitled people was not worth any savings Sam’s could muster on fuel.

I *gladly* pay a small premium for the freedom of not having to deal with those people.

IMO, many people have been off after all that Covid lock down crap. Things are not the same, people are not the same.
Bars and restaurants once closed at 2 AM now nothing open after 10 pm or 11 pm at the latest. People once were out and about now DoorDash is the norm...
Even Walmart closes at 11 pm No 3rd shift shopping...
People are and have been very short tempered these last 6 years and I see it getting worse.

I take it this kind of behaviour doesn't happen with "cheap gas"? Hardly.
Just not seeing your assertion that high prices caused this negative human interaction.
Not the first time CA has seen $5 gas prices. Nor will it be the last.

2 weeks ago it was $1 to $2 less. Kind of a kick in the teeth on top of everything else. But yeah, there are butt-heads everywhere.

87 octane is 3.19 around Austin. Could be worse. As for the rude people, Nothing new around here. I try to avoid crowded gas pumps. Hang tough everyone .

I missed filling up at Cenex when I used to live in Seattle area. 87/89/92 Ethanol Free Top Tier, and it was attached to a Farm Co-Op so it was pretty chill. Free hot chocolate/coffee during business hours as well.

One time a crackhead was washing his beater car with a squeegee blocking two pumps. I filled up and on the way out as I was leaving I told him to go to a car wash next time or at least don’t block two pumps. He started yelling crazy stuff at me and running after me trying to hit my car with the squeegee. Too bad cars have wheels and he just had feet. I hope the next day birds pood on his car and he had to wash it again!!

Edit: moral of the story, I don’t think you can correlate behavior with gas prices. Although I agree with the other poster that once covid started people got weirder, nastier, crazier, and ruder…
