Gas Price Ramifications... Not Good

There is no shortage f oil or gas in this country. Those prices are driven by the futures prices out of London. There are no real reasons for fuel to have gone up in this country. Oil futures can only keep the prices high for limited time. The future prices for out in the near future are low.
Unfortunately it's a global market and oil is a commodity like pork bellies. When those who buy futures freak out over a swine virus, we get higher bacon prices world wide.

I drove by Costco today around 11 AM. The gas line was probably 10-15 cars deep for each pump, pretty long. Across the street is another big chain station, zero line. The difference is 6 cents per gallon for 87, $3.49 at Costco.
😭

I never bother to rush to any gas station if their is a price drop of say, 2-6 cents per liter less (Canada). If i'm only going to save $1-$2 on a fill up, not worth my frustration to jostle in position, possible road raging morons fighting. As is, with gasoline being $2.05 Liter today, i'm most likely to put in $10 of gas as needed. Or wait till 7pm-10pm with a gas price drop or ten cents or more and sneak on over to a gas station.

Don't waste your time with $10 peanut fills it'll just be an irritation.

We're gonna be over $2L for a good long while unfortunately. Fill your tank and move on, cut somewhere else if you have to but energy costs what it costs.

Hoping things will change for the better in 3yrs time but who knows...

to each their own. My $10-$20 gas fills suit me fine. I don't feel like spending $123 to fill my tank today. Those that need to fill up for whatever reason, commuting/delivery driver, etc, go for it.
I agree it's an irritation if you daily commute or just need to run a bunch of errands all over the map, just use common sense and buy whatever you need and your wallet can afford. :) If only I could pester my cousin to come pick me up in his Tesla...I can offer to pay for his Gas..lol.

The crux of this thread is based on inconsiderate, self centred idiots at gas stations.

Why subject yourself to those situations with 10L splashes when you know full well you'll need more in a day or so?

It's like the rich asians in their Maybachs lining up around the block idling for half an hour to save 5 cents a litre when stations are competing for business. Ridiculousness...

A war that the USA was directly involved in. Ie: Our armed forces in the battle. But I think you knew that.

The prices then, and the rampant inflation, was more about the green new deal, and started in the 1st quarter of 2021.
Disagree. It was about a huge source of global supply being taken off the table. Just look at the spike and decline. It trends perfectly with Ukraine. Domestic (US) consumption wouldn't move global oil prices that much.

Those of us old enough to remember the oil embargo, or whatever it was, of 1973. I always wondered how much gas was burned waiting in those lines? And we artificially increased the shortage by gassing up to full more often rather than driving around with half a tank.

Cool '67 Bug. Don't know if it would hold 10 gallons... 1st year of the 12v electrics, by the way. 1500CC engine baby!

Headed to California tomorrow so I’ll find out very soon how it compares to Florida….
Only place near me under $5 is Moe's Stop, currently $4.99 for rag. Shoots the heck outta my 5 dollar bill.
Costco is $5.06.
EVs flying off the shelves! Wifey took the Tesla to work today.

$3.14 here in NW Ohio. My sons in San Diego and is absolutely blown away by gas prices, being from Ohio.

Inflation started shooting skyward in March of 2021, when new policies started to have an effect. Almost a year before the Ukraine invasion...

IMO, many people have been off after all that Covid lock down crap. Things are not the same, people are not the same.
Bars and restaurants once closed at 2 AM now nothing open after 10 pm or 11 pm at the latest. People once were out and about now DoorDash is the norm...
Even Walmart closes at 11 pm No 3rd shift shopping...
People are and have been very short tempered these last 6 years and I see it getting worse.
Totally agree. YET they still have HELP WANTED signs everywhere that you never really saw before then. All those people who filled those jobs found ways to live and not work anymore. That , or an alien mother ship landed and took them all away. Or they snuck off and went where the Anasazi vanished to?
