I wasnt always like this. When I joined it was much more friendly and inviting. Now a lot of threads turn into some sort of argument.

You asked what G-oil was. All I did was simply search and find you a bunch of threads and linked so you could research and read up on, since it only took a minute of my time.

Wow, didn't know this was an argument.

This place sure has changed....

Volk06,I sensed a bit of sarcasm in your reply. This is not the first time I have asked a q? here with a similar reply from you.I really think you are a great member here with a lot of knowledge.I even stated once before that you should even be a moderator.I still think you should be!
I'm sorry about asking q?s about certain subjects without doing a proper seach.I just have yet to figure out how to do a proper search.I guess i'm kind of slow in that department.I'm sorry.

You have nothing to be sorry for. I can see how you could sense that as being sarcasm. I wasn't trying to be a ....

Its easiest to not even use the search function on bitog, its easier using google. In your seach bar put this, site:bobistheoilguy.com and then put in what you want to search. This way it will only pull up responses from bitog.

BTW,I see you are using 5W30 in your 2011 F150. Does it recommend that weight or 5W20?

The ecoboost recommends 5w-30.

That makes no sense at all.Why have ALL other Ford engines (diesels excluded) use 5W20 and spec. 5W30 just for this engine?

I asked a Ford engineer this question at the Farm Progress Show and never did get an answer. He just beat around the bush.

This is what the consensus is.
All the ecoboosts are direct injected and turbo charged. 5w-30 handles the heat from the turbos and the fuel dilution better, for more of a "safety factor." You can dilute a 5w-30 into a 5w-20 just by fuel getting into the oil but I wouldn't want to dilute a 5w-20 any further.
However, Castrol in Germany and ford have created a "special spec" 5w-20 for the ecoboosts overseas. I'm curious to see if that will eventually make its way over to the states.

Ok,I can understand that. So,in reality,ANY engine that is speced 5W20 can run 5W30 without harm, correct?

That is a large debate around here. Most will say yes, some will say there is no need for 5w-30 if it spec'd 5w-20.

It makes a lot of sense. Viscosity is temperature dependent, and the oil leaving the turbo charger is much hotter. Oil coolers reduce overall temps a bit, but almost all turbo engines end up with higher oil temps overall.

Yes,I have asked that q? here before too.But in reality,5W30 is so close and similar to 5W20! If a 5W30 shears to a 5W20 then wouldn't a 5W20 shear to a 10 wt?
