Hello everyone.

I have a skoda scala 2020 g-tec.
The engine is the ea211 dbya 1.0 tgi 3-cylinder 66kw, with cng.

Now the engine is 4-years old with 60.000km.
I live in Athens, Greece and im looking for a good oil.

The oil recommendations by the manufacturer is vw502 or vw508.
Right now im using motul specific vw502 5w-40, but its out of stock and im looking for something good for my cng engine.

I saw the Royal purple 5w-40 and the Xado black series amc 5w-40 but unfortunately non of these are available here in Greece.

So what do you think is the best choice for my cng engine?

Thank you in advance for your time.

What your manual is saying is that you can pretty much use thick or thin oil and Full SAPS or low low-SAPS. VW 508.00 is basically a thin VW 504.00. VW 504 is backward compatible to VW502.00
I would stick to VW 504.00/507.00. Anything approved! Mobil1 ESP 5W30, Mobil1 ESP 0W30, Motul X-Clean EFE 0W30, Castrol Edge 5W30 LL etc, etc. There are slew of those oils available in EU.
If you want to stick to Motul, Motul X-Cess 5W40 GEN2 is far better than Specific VW 502.00 and has VW502.00 approval. Motul killed Specific VW502.00 as it does not make sense to make it, considering GEn2 has VW502.00 approval.

Thanks for the anwser. I was looking for the x-cess 5w-40 gen2, as motul recommends it in their site.

I have 2 questions.

I saw the motul 5-40 x-clean gen2 with vw511.00 approval, but i dont know if i can use it.

Also because the fuel is cng, do i have to choose oil with some special characteristics?
For example with low ash, or anything else?

Use the owners manual rating for the oil and no natural gas vehicles do not require a special oil.

VW 511.00 is basically thicker VW 50400/507.00 and really thick VW 508.00/509.00.

VW 508.00/509.00: 0W20
VW 504.00/507.00: 0/5W30
VW 511.00: 0/5W40

X-Clean 5W40 GEN2 has really high HTHS for such oil at 3.9cP. From a protection standpoint, it is an excellent choice.
But, the question is: do you need it? Greece is hot, but not as hot as many parts of the US, and people run 0W20 every day in places where the temperature does not drop below 45c for months. Again, personally, I would run a good VW 504.00/507.00 like Mobil1 ESP 5W30.
However, if it makes your heart warmer to run 5W40, X-Cess or X-Clean GEN2 are both excellent choices.
