Anyone useing the Fumoto Drain Valve on there oil pans? I have a Chevy S10 ZR-2 and was thinking of getting one with the 5/8" nipple to extend it pass the skid plate.
Thanks,
Bob
The Fumoto's are great. I have one on all three of my vehicles, and have never had a single problem with them. Absolutely no leaks. I highly recommend them for trouble-free oil changes.
I have a 99 S10 ZR2 (carbon fiber skid plates like yours I assume..). I just use the stock drainplug. I'd just as soon keep everything tucked up close to the truck as I can. I thought about those drain valves but I just figure it's extra $$$ to help make a little less mess during drains. I just use a socket extension and don't make a mess anyway so I never thought it was worth it. I don't buy things these days unless something breaks and needs replacing or needs to be fixed.

I went with the Fram Sure Drain. While it drains slower, it is a much cleaner looking installation (IMO), dosen't stick as far out from the pan, and has a nice dust cover. Either way, a valve makes pulling a sample a piece of cake. And once installed, you will never have to worry about stripping the oil pan drain hole threads.
I've got a F valve on my 6s as well. No leaks or issues to report from, flawless fit.
Only particular note to mention is the drain time. The valves take about 2-3x longer to drain out...as there is a small diameter hole it drains out of .
i love my fumoto. prevents me from spraying oil all over the floor.
drain time is a bit slow, but i'm normally enjoying a malted barley pop and frittering around the garage anyway. the threads do extend into the pan ever so slightly, leaving less than one ounce in my pan. i'm going to slot or shorten the threads to improve my drainage.
