Friend has trouble telling female friend the truth

I've been that guy who has played a few women in the younger days. I'm 43 now and it sounds like your buddy is pretty [censored] selfish for a 38yr old. Time is certainly not on the side of this lady so your boy is doing her dirty if he isn't being straight up. At 38 you really need to be a man about it and say it.

Why do you say that? I raised 2 put them through college and they are both doing fine. But it takes a toll. AND you don't miss what you don't have. Kids are not for everyone, it is over-rated. I could be living in Hawaii now. No regrets.

But ignorance is bliss.

Just be honest and straight up about it. A good friend will understand, continue to be a good friend, but move on with their love life. If the "good friend" doesn't understand and respect the other person for being honest, then they aren't much of a good friend to begin with.
 
38 and he wants kids now? He is bat .... crazy. I have two 10 and 7. I am 41. I am here to tell you that is crazy talk wanting kids at 38. I love my kids but my life would have been just fine without them. Wife really wanted them and I can't remember what it was like without them. I don't know if that is good or bad. Most women, not all, want kids at some point. Must be genetic. I know guys who have said they have a "Burning Desire" to have kids. I have never felt that way.
 
Well, women can still have kids at 42, just not too many (maybe 2?). But are you sure your friend is not interested in her because of this? or he just like young beautiful women?

If I had to do it over, I wouldn't have kids. I'd have a lot more money and a lot less gray hairs.

I don't think a fella looking to start a family is anything odd. He sounds like he knows what he wants in this regard and doesn't want to fall in love with a female that is a bit long in the tooth. Having kids is serious business and so is choosing a proper mother. Age is one factor that could involve pregnancy issues as well as higher risks to the child and mother. Forty two is a bit old for that, especially at this point being that they are just friends.

I find it odd that you've never heard of a guy dating for the prospect of finding a mate to start a family. After all, that IS the one of the most common reasons for dating. If I was looking for a person to have kids with, I'd be very choosey and probably spend a lot of time dating prospective life mates. That's just what you do.
 
This woman is divorced and has a 17 year old son headed off to college.
My friend dates, but was never in a rush to marry. When he does marry he wants a child or two.

Hah, you think she's too old... I recently told my female friend the truth and we just stated dating. We're both 45 and I'm soon to be divorced. My youngest of three children just turned 18. She doesn't have any children but told me she wants to have a baby

If so, he should maybe take her out for a cup of coffee...nothing heavy...and have an honest talk with her about his goals versus her goals. No need for anybody to decide to be hurt...but it could happen regardless. That's life.
 
At 38 if he wants to have kids he needs to figure who he wants to be the mother of his children pretty darn quick. While we all think we will stay active in to our later years health concerns may creep up unexpectedly. IMHO.
 
You can adopt kids but if she is a grade A person- that's rare.
However if she is nothing special than move on while being honest and respectful. Nothing special means like most of the women I see today........ Gold diggers and narcissist.

You don't play with people. Be honest and upfront!
 
ever hear of adoption? BTW, I had my one and only kid at 40. Sure it seems old but it's a great time to have one. More cash and I am more relaxed about things. I guess I didn't think being 58 when he is done with high school is so terrible. I would never say having kids is over-rated. Totally enriched my life.

You must be very close to "your friend", huh? :-)

Anyway, can't "your friend" try to have the kid with her every day and every night at least? That is the best part of deciding to have a kid. Everything else from that point onward is all downhill :-)
