This was run from mid March til today. 50/50 City and Highway. It was installed on my 02 Civic. Overall, it's a great filter, no start up noise. The oil was PP 5w20.

I too am using the Fram Extended Guard filter on one of my vehicles. I'm pleased with it so far. Other than being a bit expensive it seems to be a good performer.

Yeah it looks like a good quality filter, but considering you have to pay a premium for it, it's a poor value, you can get lesser cost filters from others that are as good quality without paying a premium.

That's why you run the Fram longer, to offset the cost.

There are not a lot of filters with a wire mesh backing and quality media for $9-$10, so I don't see what other filters you are talking about. M1, K&N, Bosch D+ are all going to command a "premium" price. Fram X-Tended Guards are definitely in that upper tier, and can run extended OCI's. They are built very well.

True ... I don't think the Extended Guard is over priced compared to others in the same performance category.

I was going to post the same thing. If a M1 EP, RP, BD+ or EaO were all around $9 before tax it'd be considered a good everyday price, since you can get 2 oil changes out of them anyway(for non-neglected + severe service vehicles).

+1

It held up well...

I was in Walmart last night and they now have Xtended Guard for my car. It was only $8 so I bought one. I also bought a TG as well (it`s the old style base plate one). On the thread that had the Fram with the e-core type base plate, was that a TG,and are all Frams going to that cheapy new baseplate eventually?
