Fram XG8A rattles when shaken

Should we all start shaking the XG filters before buying them ?

Probably not a bad idea to check out any filter as best you can before buying.

I always check the front of the filter, but the thought of shaking it hasn't crossed my mind until now.

I shook mine when i purchased it.
But it was way before this thread even existed, i did it because there was a failure reported in a Youtube video. Mine seemed fine before installing, lets see if it holds up the OCI. (Its a XG3600)

Likely. I never did hear about their findings, but they replaced the filters and the new ones had no problems. This was over 6 months ago, so most likely there aren't any of the bad batch on the shelves anymore.
