Fram Ultra ripping us off?

Cut open an XG10575 today. 2 layers, a very thin, soft, almost like felt-like cellulose or maybe even cotton outer layer with a paper back layer. No 2-layer fiberglass. No wire backing.
I'm running an XG2 right now, and feel the need to cut one of those open to make sure.
I feel betrayed here. This is a conventional media.

It’s a THIN layer of synthetic, a tiny fraction of the synthetic media they used to have, sprayed on the same blend media used in the much cheaper PH & TG filters. My personal opinion is it’s a ripoff, but the “Fram-atics” have been coming out of the woodwork to defend this cheapo new design, I think they finally figured out a way to make “synthetic” media as weak as their paper thin filter cans!

The media looks entirely new, never saw any pictured here like it. Since Fram determined it filters better than the old Ultra, what’s the beef?

Fram hast returned my email I sent haha, have this on my Z currently (6607). When I change the oil for winter storage I’ll try to cut it open, it’ll be a first time for me.

I think what REALLY happened here is that people complained about Fram having cardboard endcaps so Fram gave us metal endcaps but due to their addiction to cardboard they ended up giving us metal endcaps with cardboard filter media instead. I won't be surprised when we start seeing cockroaches crawling out of Fram Ultras in the future.

No. I think Fram isn’t ripping us off, It’s Amsoil.
$325.80 for a filter? Must be one of those “lifetime” things dealerships talk about.
