One thing about Mann, it apparently sells rebranded Purolator filters at a much higher price unless it makes the OEM filter. Therefore, I would avoid it unless you know it's the OEM filter.

OEM is always the failsafe choice for any car make. It should offer high quality overall, ranking near the best filters and sometimes at the very top.

Mobil 1 EP is reported to be a top-quality filter, albeit the high price.

Be careful with certain high-efficient fighters such as Purolator PureOne, which clog very quickly and are not meant for OCIs longer than 3,000 miles. Mobil 1 EP is reportedly high-capacity, long-OCI though.

That statement is complete completely wrong. They can go the OEM recommedation without any issue.

Exactly. I don't see where unfiltered oil got past here. The wire backing and car's filter center tube keeps it all in place (unless you stick your finger thru for a photo-op!)

Much ado about nuttin'

In the future run German filters in a German car. You can probably get a quality German brand online for less than a local sourced Fram.

Heck I always ran OE on my Mercedes because they were the same price or cheaper than aftermarket ones.

The German manufactures tend not to rape you to hard on service parts like filters, really no reason to look into the aftermarket to hard.

I tried Fram cartridge oil filter in my E430 once many year ago, I didn't like the fit(it was too loose) of the filter onto the filter holder.

Best fit and construction cartridge oil filters for German engines are German brands such as Mann, Mahle, Hengst ...
