Counterfeit Fram Ultra ?

Even the box is different (carton quality). When I scan the QR code it takes me to FRAM website where metal tube is clearly advertised as a part of the frame ultra design, and it is definitely missing
Changes are made all the time, and if this configuration isn't in full production they aren't going to change the box or website photos until it's a permanent change.

Never too late. Full 8$ refund coming my way. I guess switch to Honda OEM filters is inevitable…
I'm with you. I have a few Ultras in my stash that I bought a while back, but I think I'm going back to OEM and changing out every OCI. ( I had been running 2-OCI with the Ultras)

So nothing should ever change?
If pictures don't match the website, box, or other marketing literature it is a problem and erodes confidence. It is the reason the OP posted, right? Usually there will be some verbiage that there is a change. If a different looking product comes out of the box each time you buy the product that is not good.

Those Honda "OE" were made by first brands(Fram) wonder if they will change or if Honda will source another P/N for their USA service parts.
Subaru recently dumped first brands and went back to Tokyo Roki.

When you throw up your hands and exclaim, "I Give !" you could always try a TECHIE :giggle:

That is some might fine ad copy right there.

Point taken. Such things rarely bother me but can see how it affects others.

That picture has the adbv sealing on top of the outlet thread.

I’ve been doing the same, at least 2 and sometimes 3 OCI (3-4k miles per OCI). I still have two “old” design ultras sitting in the garage

That is the TECHIE special double-gasketing of the rotating center tube :cautious:

Posted as a cheap foreign brand I saw on EBAY. Not a recommendation, just for fun.
At least it's not like some of NISSAN previous China OE sourced filters where on some P/N the media endcaps were jammed into the can.
So much for ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 certification and incoming inspection.

It would be useful to compile a list of all oil filter brands that are made by First Brands or one of it's owned companies.
It would become a "Do not buy" list.

Not related to first brands, but a similar topic:
I watched a Toyota Car Care Nut video where he found the actual cause of a Toyota engine self destructing. It was a bad aftermarket cartridge filter that basically collapsed. The lesson learned is that defective (or cheapened) filters can cause $10,000 worth of engine damage.
