This TG filter came off a 2003 maxima. Was on for 9 months and about 4K. Filter was rusted pretty bad. I tried pushing on the body with a screwdriver curious if the rust was deep. Went right through pretty easy! You can see marks where I tried pushing in areas that were not rusting with the
Same pressure.

Doesn’t make any sense, even the rubberized grip area looks like it is 10 years old. It takes a lifetime of salt for metal and rubber to get that bad. Weird. Was the filter ten years old when it was installed or something?
Is this another FRAM post like the video a month ago that showed nothing inside the filter....It was removed off this site within a day...I am sure because it was fake....IMO

More to this then what you posted....

Not sure why you guys would judge me. I’ve been on here for years and I’ve been pro Fram. It’s all I use.
I say it is fake or you walked to a junk yard to find this.. as stated by someone else even the black grip top has all kind of cracks in it...That filter is super old...been in a flood or a fire...

I will gladly vouch for LeakySeals ...

He did no do anything here and he is not highly biased against Fram. Not at all.

LS what date code is in the Fram TG ?
..Do you remember where you purchased it or got it from ?
Thanks. Walmart. This?

I think this may have been a fairly rather old filter,... I added the following sentences after seeing the above picture.

Based on date code if I'm doing the code right.... This was made on February 8 2012.... Because in the example on that date code page 00 was for the year 2020.... So I'm thinking 92 obviously would have been 8 years earlier. And 39th day in the Julian calendar is February 8th.

And let's be honest with ourselves... Fram cans are very very thin guys.... And that is a obvious fact.

Rust can form in a railway line in a matter of hours... Brake rotors do the same. With zero salt being involved.

Another date stamp on the body. Says 2017. Compare that to two filters I purchased for my other Nissan last month which is a 2019 so I’m not sure we can go by that.

The inked series is the legitimate date code. 239th day of 2019 = August 27, 2019 (Tue). You can't tell from the date code what "9" it is but we know it has to be 2019 due to the copyright date as well as other characteristics that would not have been present in an earlier filter.

Does it hang off the front of the engine or bottom?

Id like to see how the innards held up pre screwdriver...

Positioned horizontal at the bottom of the engine facing the passenger side fender well. It’s behind a splash shield but I’m sure it gets wash under there. The filters come off dirty. It went on in March. There may have still been salting going on. But not too much after March. I usually do oil changes sooner than 9 months, but the car hasn’t been moving much. I also have an Altima 2.5 has the same location and uses the same filters (7317 long, 6607 short). I’ve never seen a rusty Fram TG come off either. This is the first time I’ve ever seen a rusted filter on any of my vehicles, why I posted.

Looks good. JB Weld the hole and slap it on for another 20,000 miles.
