Coolhand I am really interested for some real info on the Fram oil filter with the 7,500 mile rating can you get some .I would rather not clean filters ,just r@r.

Thanks for posting Coolhand and please do not be put off by some of the occasional trash talking in this forum.

By any chance, can you tell me how this product compares in terms of filtration to a toughguard filter? Also, are you planning to expand the applications for your existing toughguard and Airhog lineup? I'm wondering if you will make any of these products [SynWash, Toughguard, Airhog] available for the V6 Accord.

Also, fwiw, I did notice that the gasket on the Airhog filter for the Chrysler 300 has the best fit of any air filter I ever installed. I've submitted a positive review of it on Amazon.com.

Coolhand, thanks for the input and isn't it interesting that BITOG is scanned so much by the automotive marketing world!

This is a welcome filter development and I am very anxious to see real world oil analysis from our service reflecting this filter setup.

Can you share more tech data about the Media construct ?

One note of warning when using dishwasher detergent in cleaning any media is that if not flushed completely the detergents ATTACK and neutralize the add pack in most motor oils. This residual, even if dried , then rehumidified by ambient air water content, IS NOT good. Amsoil learned this the hard way years ago with the oiled foam ( cleanable filters).

Gosh now I'm doing free work for Fram online......

Your #1 chosen filter thing, is only because people dont know their buying a #@$%! filter for the price. You don't seem to advertise the construction about your orange can ither, just the media.
Put a word in at the marketing dpt.
Your looking in the right place to start improving your oil filter. Otherwise your TG and EG are good filters with cardboard endcaps.
And I won't say anything mean about your PTFE, because nobody can prove it works.
But I do use your air filters.

I saw the filter at Walmart tonight and thought about buying one for my B3000, but decided to check here first. Glad that the caution of the dishsoap being a potential problem. I wonder if there is a different cleaner that could be used that wouldn't have this problem. Also would like to see a test scores between it and other brands like Pure and the standard Fram like I usually use.

coolhand01,

Thanks for the update on the new SynWash air filter. I do sometimes use your air filters but absolutely will not use your oil filters.

As for your Extra Guard oil filters - not even if they were

I sure appreciate a manufacturer rep coming on here and sharing from their percpective and soliciting input. That carriers some weight with me. Wish they had about a 3.5"X6" cone filter. I'd try on of these bad boys out.

Terry a question...

Dishwash soap is a problem. Is dish soap (like you would use in the sink) like dawn, joy or such a concern?

I thought it was the soaps that you use in a machine that cause problems..

Thanks in advance!

Liquified dawn, Joy, etc are exactly what I am addressing here.

RINSE well and allow to dry completely then reinstall. Then procure one of our test service kits so we can see how you did!

SynWash is tested to ISO 5011 which tests using course dust. This an industry standard that all FRAM filters are tested against, and is used by just about every major manufacturer.

Actually, per ISO 5011 there are "choices". Contaminant ISO 12103-A2 (Fine) or ISO 12103-A4 (Coarse) test dust can be used (not sure about ISO 12103-A3 (Medium)).

Be careful when comparing performance test results. Variables such as contaminant type, dust injection rate, test termination end-point (delta-P) and environment conditions (air temp, humidity) can sway results. Also, some air filters are tested in the OEM housing while others are tested in "test housings" which may vary results due to different flow interaction. Such is variation! The best test is a side-by-side comparison off the same test stand under identical test conditions.

BTW: I am a 100% FRAM fan. SynWash looks to be a nice addtion to FRAM's offering.

I would still like to know what size dirt it is 99% efficient at filtering. Its this vageness that makes me nervous. At least amsoil is strait about 15 microns for Eaa filters. Sorry but I don't trust fram and all there marketing gimicks.

I don't trust a company that tries to convince people that cardboard is better then steel inside an oil filter.

One thing that sucks about this filter is it takes a long time to dry. If you have one of these and are planning on washing it, make sure you have time or a spare paper you can use..for like a day.
