Thanks for sharing, had never heard of this before. Always interesting to learn about new products.

Ewwwwwwwwwwwww. Sorry Mike, couldn't resist.

As of yet, I have no opinion about the quality of what's in the bottle. I've seen no data yet. The only thing I know right now is the quality of what has appeared behind the Fram name in the past. That does not give me a warm, fuzzy feeling. I will reserve judgment, though, until I see some information about what's actually in those bottles.

Indeed, at least the bottles aren't cardboard. . .

EDIT: I would also add that despite a round of multi-store lurking today, I have yet to see this product in the flesh.

Well, FRAM's premium stuff seems to be alright. So their (CP made) syn should be fine. But really it should be "Tough Guard" oil in a gray bottle with the conventional being the "Extra Guard"...

You can see some obvious oil change with filter sale offerings with this product.
Incidentally, despite all the hatation, I used Fram oil filters for years without issue.
If this oil gets into national distribution, it will no doubt be offered with some killer oil and filter MIR deal, at which point I'll buy and use some.

EM already has such a deal. Two weeks ago, my neighbor's wife (he was out of town) decided she needed a "right now" oil change. She probably did. She drives a very nice Hyundai Santa Fe and could not recall the last OC. The old oil was ominously and opaquely BLACK. She, at my wife's instigation, handed me some cash to get her oil and a filter. Anyway, I did the operation. At AZ, I discovered that she required a cartridge filter. I ended up buying a M1 oil and M1 filter package (got the jug, furthering the discount) and the non-M1 filter for her (no M1 for the Santa Fe). Thereby, I ended up netting myself a "free" M1 filter for my car, while giving her a "free" oil change. But I digress, I'm sure that Fram will start the same sort of thing. I will remain uninterested in the "normal" Fram filters...

Except the low price oil filter, the higher price Fram oil filters such as Xtended Guard seems to be very good quality but with much higher price, also Fram air filters seems to be good quality too and the price is reasonable.

If Fram Synthetic is on-sale and/or with rebate for dirt cheap, such as $1-2/qt, I will buy several cases if it is available in my area.

I have used Fram synthetic for 32 years and so have my family and all of my friends all except one. Sorry, for this but I could not resist the temptation.

It's strange that Fred Meyers would stock Fram oil, since they don't carry their filters. I've only seen Purolator filters at Fred Meyers.
