As an side bar to the CQ filter thread: I was browsing this evening and noticed the FPS3506 listed under the "Economy" tab for oil filters. I checked for my Cadillac's, our Jeep GC, and our Kia Spectra and all were available around the $4 range which is more than 50% off the price of an Ultra from RA or WM.

I'm pretty well stocked on filters, but I threw a couple for each vehicle in tonight's order. For that price it seems like a no brainer.

I'm tempted to buy some since I've only got one 9837 OG Ultra left but at this point all of these FPS filters I think have been sitting around at least a decade, probably in unconditioned warehouses.

Very possible, but being a synthetic media I'm not super worried about it. I'll be saving the 3506's for my '95, I've got a couple Pronto white cans that I'll use on the old '79.

I decided to pick up a few, I don't know that I really needed anymore 3600s, since I've got quite a few years worth of filters left for my dad's car, but I decided to pick up a few, I have like half a doze 3593a for mom's Honda Oddyssey , I have a few 9018s for the Malibu, but the FPS cartridges weren't really that cheap, like $8 not a great price to stock up at. Maybe If I don't need that many 3600s I'll give a few to my grampa, I think he's used through the Purolator Boss XG16 equivalents he got on clearance from TSC a few years ago, I think the 3600 or 8a length will fit just fine on the 3.3/3.8 Chrysler V6 without hitting anything.

I gotta see if I can just get my money back, they shipped them terribly, all stack on each other with some of those worthless air pillows in the top of the box, One of the 3600s got a nasty dent on the dome end, two of the 9837s got bashed bad, another 9837 has a dent across one of the flutes, another 3600 has a dent around the base crimp. They're all 2013 date codes and the rubber seal has really marked up the bottom of the box and there's a lot of rub marks or something has ran down the sides of the boxes. I think I'd pass, I just have to accept that the era of the good Ultra is gone and it's time to find a new filter of choice I guess. Here's an example of the track marks in the box, the top is the FPS filter, and the bottom is an equivalently aged XG2870A I have, notice the rubber mark on the 2870a is lighter and there is no bleeding up the sides of the box, only a few marks from where the rubberized dome end touches up against the box.

Just go thru the prompts in their system, I doubt it'll be a problem and it may even tell you not to ship them back.

Choose carefully, though, because once you've submitted an answer from their multiple choice options, you can't go back and change it.

That's a bummer! I just opened mine and they look perfect, no issues that I can see. Also 2013 date codes, but they were really cheap and I needed other stuff anyway. I'm running ~4,500 mile intervals on my '95 that spends 90% of it's life with the cruise control set to 60, so a double-run on these filters should be no problem. Hopefully RA makes you whole.

They gave me an instant refund on the 3600s they want me to send back the 9837s, which is fine, I really didn't want to use them after they've been banged around like that,
