..and you did a good job of it from my perspective

I would use the XG line if I had cause to. It looks like a great filter ..and is a Honeywell product. OCOD is still an overpriced product in all markets other than Canada ..and that's only because everything else is falsely elevated higher in price. It's probably a domestic production thing ..aka ..a protectionist jobs program.

I Recently posted pics of used Purolator filters, a 5k AAP TG and 7k/1year P1. Both were in excellent condition, good quality, and no defects.

I too have cut open many filters including OEM Honda's A-02 installed by the dealer and found nothing remarkable enough, including construction, price or efficiency, that would make me go out of my way purchase them. Basically a Fram Tough Guard with a P type gasket but no adbv screen. I've just not found IME, OEMs to be any better (or as good sometimes) than available aftermarket for the same or less money. And, more often than not, the OEM filter producer decision is based on a low bidder basis. Much like the O'R Microgard change recently.

As with others, I can only go on my personal experience, which with P1, Classic, AAP TG and other Puro made filters including the MC FL 820-S has been excellent. And a solid value beyond that. It was GA that alluded to the orange can if priced based on quality level being ~ $1.75.

That said, I would have great difficulty favoring a filter, including OEM, with fiber endcap construction over one with metal endcap construction. Especially when the fiber endcap is the same or more money. But, that's just me.
