Fram Endurance - synthetic and wire backed

I get that part... (Mostly the reasons why I read posts on this site!) But... if you want the "Wired" versions... Doesn't that say something about the filter itself?

What's so great about wires in the filter media? Has there been a rash of collapsed and failed media on the non-wired versions? Or..Is it just piece of mind?

What is the real benefit? I mean... this whole thread of conversations stems around this "new" being "better". Well... I've been around long enough to know "new" is more often a marketing ploy along with finding a way to make a product less expensive to produce.

"New & Improved!!" Alrighty then!!!

Synthetic media (microglass, polymer) requires a wire backing because it lacks sufficient rigidity to stay in form if just directly potted. The wire backing provides the necessary backing structure.

Do we know what material these new filters use? 2 ply (depth filtration)? IDK, that is why I'm asking..ty

I got an old school wire backed FU 7317 that I’m taking to 60K miles, that’s right 60K miles.

I should have car back in December and will sent it to Adam for filter autopsy.

This filter is on my daughter in law’s car with 6-7K drain & refills.
I take it that it's on a diet of otc plain Jane synthetic oil? This will be exciting to see when the oil filter surgery. Hope we can get it in 4K.🙂

I see you’re into sarcasm. Only two of those are actual filters, the third one is a can that may be used to sort sizes of birdshot 🤣
HA! I have been known to use sarcasm one in awhile. ;)

Well... yeah, exactly... These "cans" that sort birdshot were even touted by the WIX marketing team to be their PLATINUM line. You know, Top of the line product!

I'll gladly pay more for a "PLATINUM" filter! It's the best!!! Why.... it's better than the Silver AND Gold filters! Wait.... wait.... ummmm....

Someone said there was a "New" Fram in town.... Wires and spiral-cut center tube that spins the oil in a counter-clockwise rotational column and this helps stabilize the wire-backed media to help filter "Ultra microns" and still keep filtering for 25k miles!!!

I think I'll hunt these new bad boys down!!! My car will now last longer than my 7yr loan!!! Life's great!!

(These Manhattan marketing teams are laughing all the way to the bank.) Okay...back to the Oil section to see what's "New" there. o_O 🔫
