Fram Endurance - synthetic and wire backed

@Linctex took a regular Motorcraft filter out to 30k, and a Fram Tough Guard to 50k, so it’s not surprising that on a clean engine a filter with depth filtration would go even farther.

What is commendable is your intestinal fortitude to keep it on that long! 👍🏻

Should I go for 70K miles ?

Im not kidding.

Her 2017 Mazda CX5 is highway driven 75 miles round trip daily. Non turbo 2.5L SkyActiv engine.

I take it that it's on a diet of otc plain Jane synthetic oil? This will be exciting to see when the oil filter surgery. Hope we can get it in 4K.🙂

I use various clearance sale synthetic oils. Sometimes I mix brands if I don’t have 5 quarts of same brand.

Futmoto valve with nipple makes oil changes very easy, zero mess and drain / refill in 5 minutes.

*** Edit ***

Car is driven daily through a construction zone on Florida Turnpike so I’m curious about seeing the amount of sand and grime inside the can.

In this thread, it has been speculated the new Fram Endurance is a Royal Purple clone; I am surprised the efficiency of the Fram is 99% at 20 microns since Royal Purple is 99% at 25 microns and 80% at 10 microns.

I think some maybe missed this image I posted way back on page 2

As long as its full synthetic media, I am not worried about efficiency ratings. The only spec that I am wondering about is gram capacity.
A filter that is in bypass excessively for the final 7k of a 10k interval is useless to me. But, I wouldn't run any oil or filter that long.
All I care about is the filter not failing.

Below is a quote from our former Fram rep concerning capacity: 25,000 seems reasonable on a properly maintained engine

"What gives it the ability to go that far is capacity. Most Ultra models can hold 25-32 grams of dirt to full. Given that the dirtiest of engines make around a gram per 1000 miles, they easily go the distance. Lots of filters have great capacity and still are not rated to 15k. Why? Construction and filter media. Synthetic glass microfiber media filters will never degrade when immersed in oil. Typical cellulose/synthetic blends can and will degrade over time. The silicone adbv also stays pliable forever. Stay tuned, we will be upping the mileage interval on these in 2017."

I wonder how long did their marketing, accountants, and manufacturing R&D argue about the removal of the dual layered $ynth wire-backed media for the synth over cellulose media used with the Ultra. Whose pride got bruised more? And, why not just bring back the synth media to the Ultra instead of adding another filter line? There is no going back with corporate decision making until its too late.

Really would love to know their sales volume after everyone found out that the Ultra was not double layered synth media anymore. So, instead of admitting to their greedy foolishness, they simple added a new filter with new media. I wonder how this media compares to Fram's earlier single layer X2 synth media filters that were replaced by the Ultra.

Oh well, I miss their high mileage "HM" TRT time release tech additive equipped filters, and their preloaded with Teflon doubleguard "DG" filters Having a dual remote filter mount back then sure was fun.
