This oil filter came off of my wife's 2023 RAV4. This filter was on for 5K miles using Amsoil's SS 0W-20.

The filter pleats stayed arrow straight, though it looks as if some grouped together during use. No big deal. I was also pleased to see that the wire backing that was used was metal, not just the typical nylon wire backing I've seen in other filters. The filter bypass also looked to be of a quality build. A metal crimp joint as expected.

interesting filter. not using the normal FE wire backing rather the OG wire backing from the ultras. what is the thread on these?

Nice pictures and post. What went in and back on? Thank You sir

The pleats were straight when made, and stayed straight because of the wire backing on the media. The spacing of the pleats didn't "group together" or move around during use. Impossible with that wire backing. The pleat spacing you see is how they came off the factory line, and the spacing doesn't matter since the media is wire backed.

On one would expect, FE looks fine at 5k miles. Personally, I'd like to see more uniform pleat spacing but with this type media and backing not as critical as cellulose/blended media. Fwiw, still would like to see more FE c&p include light test on the dome seal area like WCW did with an FE c&p. I'm still thinking I may bite the bullet and do it on a new FE7317.

As for filter size, if wanting an easy upsize, 4386 would be perfect and all you need, imo. Like the 7317 in place of 6607, 4386 often run in place 4967.

Thanks for c&p.

this specific filter is built like a fram filter versus a champs filter. looks to literally be an OG ultra versus the rest of the endurance line.

I've often ran the longer 4386 size filter on my 2008 Corolla which specs the 4967.....I've never ran the 3614 or 3600 really over sized filter although many others apparently have.

I agree that running Amsoil SS for 5K is a waste of it's potential and I doubt there would have been any difference running any 0w20 synthetic available at Walmart for that OCI....or the less costly Amsoil OE if your an Amsoil guy.
