Pretty fresh example. As soon as I cut it open, I got gassed out with a heavy oil smell.

Smelling the anti-corrosion coating most likely.

Can't quite make out the date code. Looks like some time in 2021.

Being a virgin filter in Zee09’s garage is like being on death row. Please tell us you are being as humane as possible.o_O

I will say the filter media itself is very robust...very...not talking about the fiber end caps slash disc..

Without effort or care I just peeled off the end caps with my fingers and squeezed the media to pop out the center tube. Required no strength at all. As you see I simply peeled it all away and had no concern for a beauty shot...😒 No tools required.

The media color appears to be lighter than what they used to be a goldish yellow. It's more like a whitish yellow now. They are making these look fairly good overall.

It felt rigid media wise but once I popped the tube it tears like a sheet of paper. No exaggeration .
If I was Fram I wouldn't make these.
I'm not doing 10k on these and I know others have. I just won't be a buyer of this or TG although I have some TGs left which I will use on my mowers. The filter game these days is a travesty.

Worlds most controversial filter. I like the silicone anti-drain back but that is about it. Just not a filter I choose as there are better for the same price point.
Yes agreed the adbv outclasses the rest of this filter by a mile. I have used them but I really don't care for them at all. And no I'm not an OCOD basher. I just prefer to go upmarket.
The Baldwin was less than $2 more and I'm not a huge fan of them..but..these days you get what you can get...

They obviously don't tear end caps off in service, so not anything to be concerned about as you know.

These flaked the top layer with just running your fingers across the edges and I understand but I wouldn't make these as econo buyers tend to be the worst complainers...that I know.
I don't like building down to a price point...that's just me.
