Is the current Fram Defense essentially just an EG without the grip surface, all cellulose media amd a nitrile ADBV?

The last versions I've seen cut open were, but with the way First Brands has been doing things I wouldn't be surprised if the latest versions are mishmash or the cheapest Fram and Champion pieces.
Defense ... or Force or Drive? Fram doesn't show a Defense.

Probably not listed as a consumer product, as Defense are supposed to be shop filters I believe.
It's in the commercial line, not the consumer line. It's below the EG.
Not sure how current the photos are, but it looks nothing like a Fram EG. Base plate isn't the same.

It's not in the Fram commercial product line on their website that I can see. Like mentioned, sounds like a cheap jobber filter for oil change shops.
I meant it's not for retail sale to consumer's. The lack of detail on Fram's site was the reason I posted about what recent models seemed to look like. A lot changes over the years. Yes, they are cheap. I have an application that's insensitive to adbv and it's likely the media is as efficient if lower capacity than the OEM Filter.

The base plate looks like a Supertech mp10575 or a pf63e, so looks like defense filters are being blended with champ parts.
Not all Defense filters have the same base plate and internals; IIRC the10575 is also an E-core.
Looks very combo valve Ecore-like, Champ has been making the "Fram Force" ones for AAP, along with the cheap Super Tech ones, I bet it's a Champ.
at the local fleet farm before they clearanced out the Defense filters, they were for quite some time e-cores but then went to the white fram clone filters, and now the White Supertechs are basically the same as the non-ecore defense filters.

Interesting.. I would go with a super tech in that price range
I seriously doubt that First Brands has made a single Defense series filter. Every Defense series filter that I have seen has a date code from a few years ago before First Brands bought out Fram. I recently purchased three of these filters from Mills Fleet Farm because all Defense series filters were on clearance sale for only $1.59. They may very well have been out of production for a while and may be getting replaced or simply discontinued at the retail level.
